Decided to go hunting this evening and it was a beautiful evening to be in a stand.

Let's start out with the view from the truck just before I cross the creek I'll be hunting near:

Here's the view from the middle of the creek from the truck window:

On the way to my spot, on foot now:

Had to stop here because my bow was begging me for a pic:

Ahhh yes.....my spot for the evening:

View from about 13' up:

Looks like something else likes the view from up here too!('coon track?):

Thanks for taking us along.  Great photos, looks like an ideal whitetail spot.

Saw at least 4 pairs of Wood Ducks:

Ready and waiting:

Oh my, where did these come from?!:

Both of these are this year's deer. One appears to be a button buck. I saw a bigger deer coming in fast so I had to put the camera away just in case it was a nice buck. Turned out to be the youngsters' mama. Had a shot opportunity on her but chose not to take the shot. If it had been a weekend or a Friday evening when I had the next day off, I may have decided to do different.....

But for now, I was content just watching them. They got their drink and were gone in minutes.

Done for the day.....

Thanks for the compliments.....

Yes, it is a good spot for evening hunts. First time hunting in this tree last year, I was able to kill a nice 6 pointer about six yards from the base of my tree. I got him just after he took a drink from the creek with a Predator recurve I later traded for the Kanati. Can't wait to make mojo with this one!

This is the same creek that I hunted, fished, and trapped on as a kid in the '70s and '80s. Trapped many 'coons, muskrats, fox, and mink on about a half mile stretch of this creek back then. Oh my, those were the days......

Weren't any deer on this farm back then. No big woods, just a small cedar thicket and a couple of small woodlots, with one being near the creek. The rest is rotated with soybeans and corn with wheat thrown in on occasion. Hunting's pretty fair until the crops are harvested then it heats up again during the rut.

I like that corn field Doug. Good looking spot with that creek.

TJ, I've often thought about hiding just inside the edge of the cornfield on the ground and watching the creek area from there. I'll just bet that deer are crossing back and forth from the corn to the creek. It's just a matter of finding out just where that is!
