Hey guys, I was just wondering if many of you guys take a book with you while on stand or in your blind?  I usually don't when I go out for a morning or an evening hunt but if I'm going to sit all day I almost always do.  Just curious to see how many of you guys do the same.  TRW

I usually see animals when I'm just waking up from a nap after having fallen asleep while reading.    :D

I can't see how you could get away with it... I mean, the pages ar big white flags! I do tinker with my iPhone occasionally but its small, black & I don't need to turn pages.

I often read the Bible while on stand.

I always have one in my pack, but I rarely take it out. Wildlife of any sort fascinates me, so if there's a critter afoot, I'm watching it. When I do read, I'm always concerned about missing something, so I can't concentrate on the text anyway.

One of the many reasons why I got the bible for my Droid.

I do.  A buddy of mine takes one and everytime he gets that itch to call it a day and get down he opens his book and says "10 more mintues".  Once he gets into the book 30 or 40 minutes usually pass and he settles down till he gets the urge to get down again.  His way of staying on stand longer.

I sometimes do if I am in my Double bull ground blind. I would rather stay focused and safe in my tree stand.

Just started.  I had been reading stuff on my phone, but depending on the lighting I would have a harder time quickly adjusting my eyes from the lcd screen to the woods around me if I heard something.  I don't seem to have that problem with a book.  I also look up before turning every page, something I didn't do with the iphone.  I feel like I pay better attention as a result.

Plus there always seemed something wrong to me with being out in the woods with a traditional bow and reading/playing with a very modern electronic device.

I read often on the stand and use a Kindle. It does not give of a glare from the lcd screen and put it down when it is prime time. i read a page look over the area and repeat. no page turning and works pretty well when it is cold out.

b.glass

I've tried but I'm afraid I'll miss something.

I keep a couple of books on my phone for that purpose. usually for the middle of the day when not much is moving.

Not any more!  I missed an opportunity on a nice deer because I was absorbed in the book and missed her slipping through.  Now, I just hunt!

Autumnarcher

I used to carry a small paperback, but turning pages is too much movement. I play with my iphone a bit, if things are slow. its smaller and easier to do without movements. But mostly, I watch for critters.

hvyhitter

Have been for years, usually classic light mystery paperbacks. I "fidget" less and sit quieter longer when I read. Read two pages, look around the woods, turn page slowly. I see more deer as I sit/stand alot less..............YMMV
