I can't decide on the sit and climb or the hand climber. Anybody got the sit and climb? Does it interfere with shooting?
Thanks in advance for the expert advice that can be counted on here at Tradgang.

Blackhawk

I have both and like both, BUT the hand climber can be a chore if you are old and fat...like me.  It can be a workout on those tummy muscles going up and coming down.

I installed a wide belt underneath and made it into a sit n' climb.  This version is also a pound or so lighter in weight.

The original sit n' climb is comfortable and I feel secure in it, but the side rails and front bar can interfere with shots.  To avoid this somewhat, I set the seat and platform closer together which provides more clearance when standing.

Both are quiet, light and easy to pack, and secure well to the tree.

I believe they were USA made, then went to China, but now back in the USA.  Reports say to avoid the Chinese made copies, but I cannot confirm that.

For shooting a stick bow, the hand climber seems best to me... I've had them both and love the hand climber.. The only problem with any of the lone wolf stands is comfort... None of them are to comfortable, but then again, neither is getting up at 2 a.m. driving an hour and hiking 2 miles and climbing a tree...
Blessings,

Used my hand climber for the first time last week and i love it. Cant go wrong with a lone wolf.

I used the old original sit & climb (with the black nylon sling seat) for years... and I agree that it was uncomfortable.  Really got the tailbone aching after a while in it.  Last year I sold it and got the new WIDE version and it's much better... the seat itself is a different design (even on the "narrower" version).

I haven't had a problem with the sit & climb hindering my shooting but I can see where the hand climber might be a little better in that regard.  It's just not an option for me... I'm also old and fat and have some arthritis in the joints.

Lon, just bought that strap that makes the hand climber a sit and climb, how is it?

Blackhawk

Bucky, it's sweet.  It makes getting up that tree much easier.

Man I had the sit and climb but hated always being uneven at the top of the tree going with a set of sticks and a lone wolf assault this year can't wait

You can see it here with the other climbers:  Lone Wolf Climbers
The climbing base is the same but the seat assembly is 4" wider than the regular model... works for me.

I have a sit and climb and it has been my favorite stand for several years.  Just bought the wide sit and climb top.  If you buy the hand climber I will sell you my sit and climb top and you will have both with one platform.  They are interchangeable.  The sit bar folds under the seat when in position so there is no bar in front of you.

Hand climber for me, but I've not tried the sit and climb.  I bought it several years ago and it does everything I want a stand to do, especially pack up flat so it works great with my pack full of clothes.  The waffle pattern on the base is also the most comfortable for my feet when standing of any stand I have used, and I stand a lot vs. sit.
