Like Trumpkin, I'm lucky enough to live in prime elk country.  I usually take two hunts.  One the first week of Sept and one the last.  Same spots the last few years.  We hunt a jem of a spot for the opener.  Here's the bull video I posted last year of the bull we called into camp the evening BEFORE the opener!  We were just messing around bugling and this toad brought his harem within range.  I ended up taking one the satellites in the area.  But this year may be the year?   I'll keep you posted.

Northern CO for me with a few other Tradganger's.  Hackbow will be getting to Indy from Pittsburgh Thursday 9/1 and we'll make the 18 hour drive for a backpack hunt until 9/11.  I've got several spots marked on the GPS and pretty much have spent the last 2 weeks touring it on Google Earth.  Putting the finishing touches on my elk missiles in the next couple days.  I'm using the bow I received from the TG Bowyer's Bench bow swap.

I'm dialing it in and getting decent groups nowadays.  I'm hoping to get out this weekend for a backpack squirrel hunt to test some of my long range shooting skills in the mountains of Indiana.
Take a kid hunting!

One week to go then off to Northern Colorado...The group has shrunk to just me and Charlie [Cyclic-Rivers] but we are going anyway and plan to have a good time on our first Elk adventure. Starting to pack and sort gear and checking things off the list!

I feel bad for you guys who are only hunting a week or so.  Leaving NJ 8/29 and don't have to be back to work until 9/29!  Drew a Unit 49 tag in CO and plan on getting one even if it takes about the whole season!!  Good luck to everyone and a word of caution to the virgins,  it's like other things in life, once you do it you can't stop   :goldtooth:
