It's been pretty hot around here lately.  Around 100 degrees or so for several weeks with no rain.  I had hogs coming in pretty regular and got my nephew and my wife set up, and they each shot nice sows and I was waiting for some rain to do some spot-and-stalk.  Well, the rain never came and I had to go to NM for a week.  When I got back the hogs were gone.  Last year they headed toward the river and never came back until spring, so I figured I was out of luck until next year.  I decided to go sit in a tripod that I have setup just to see what the deer are doing and didn't get out until around 8:15pm, which was fine with me since it was still 95 degrees.  Right at dusk, a little group of hogs showed up under my tripod and I only had a minute or so of shooting light left.  They were clustered up tightly, but I shot the first one that separated from the group.  Very tiny, but I'm hoping that it'll be as tasty as everyone says the small ones are.  Shot it with the shrew classic hunter that I got from Dave McLendon a little less than 2 months ago.  The pic with me in it is for perspective of the size.  Gonna display it next to the pic of my wife with the big sow that she shot for laughs.

Perfect size, those are the ones we are looking for.I skin them and take to the local meat market and have them sawed down the middle long ways. Then put them on the smoker for a day.

Good deal Pat. My motto is that if they are to fast to catch they are big enough to shoot. I get slower everyday.RC

Nice shooting on that little porker, they are harder to hit for sure!
