I just got done ordering a Selfbow through "Kegan"   :jumper:   some of you may know him, from what i see he does excellent work. Its gonna be 60" 55-60#@27 Hickory, its a Flatbow. Man im so excited! What can  i expect performance wise compared to stock longbows and recurves? ive never had one. Im working up half a dozen dowell arrows for it fletched from a bird from last year. I will try to hunt with these but i have Alum. and carbon back up!

If you dont care post up your works of art! with specs and such, get my blood flowing! I would love to be able to build my own one day, but until then i would like to drool over yals! God bless you all, my brothers and sisters!

Been a long time since I've taken the time to work on a selfbow.  Here's one of the last one's I made a couple of years ago.

'Bout time to start another  :)

Bjorn

Here'a a takedown BBO and a 1pc Yew backed with BOO

They both broke fairly early in life..........it happens.

Keith Zimmerman

Thanks, Gene.

It's a Ryano Osage selfbow with antler tips.  It is a 60" drawing around 65@28.  It's very quiet as all selfbows and light as a feather.

MAN!!!          :scared:

All of these bows are GORGEOUS!!! Anybody want to highlight performance? compared to a Laminated bow? With a 2 blade head and aluminum behind it, will i be fine on deer? 55-60@27) will i have enought juice to sling dowell arrows? Thanks in advance!!!

Dalton,

You will be fine on deer at those weights and can definitely shoot dowels.

Here's a picture of a blacktail doe I shot with a hickory backed eastern red cedar bow in an ELB style.  I believe it was pulling around 50# at 28".  The shot was from a tree stand and I used a 5/16 ramin dowel with a Ribteck head, I believe it was a 145 grain version.  Shot broke a rib high and stopped after fracturing the opposite leg bone.  Bow wasn't even completely finished at the time.  Later she got a different handle and horn nocks.

Here is a pic of mine with the only critter I have taken with a selfbow. The buddy of mine who made it named it "The Rulebreaker" because he chopped it in half and put a bow bolt in it to make it into a takedown. It is an Arvin Weaver selfbow, 45@28 (my DL is 29.5 so about 50#@myDL).
