Whats the difference between snuffer and woodsman broadheads? They're both 3 blade, come in similar weights and cost about the same. So whats the difference    ?

Botth are great tough broadheads I use both depending on what I'm going after, Magnus Snuffers like others said are wider but have been around for a long time & the Wensle Woodsmans is IMHO a head that honors the Snuffer by being similar.

You will not go wrong with either broadhead.

Woodsman are narrower than Snuffers.  At least in theory and all else being equal, a Woodsman should have better penetration.
All that aside, I've found Snuffers to be a lot noisier than the Woodsman.

I am with Rob, I like the lower profile WW, especially for bigger critters like elk.

I got a pack of the woodsman for xmas past. I have shot Snuffers for over 25yrs. with success. So I decided to try a heads up test of the two. I shot from 22yds. at a piece of corrugated 5" square first the 3 woodsman, than snuffers. I found that both shot well and other than the woodsman being a little lower than the others could not find any difference. I shot deer, yotes, and hogs with the snuffers and always say"if it ain't broke don't fix it". Snuffers rule!

Terry Green

Yes, Snuffers wider....both made in same place I believe.

If I had only those two heads to choose from...and I could only hunt whitetails and hogs....

I'd take the Suffers for the deer, and the WWs for the hogs.

They would both rule.....just ask Curt Cabrera, that's exactly what he does....with GREAT success.

My only criticism of the Snuffer vs. Woodsman is that I have occasionally had penetration issues with Snuffers when hunting from treestands. Woodsman heads changed all that...IMO they outpenetrate the Snuffer but are just as lethal.

I have been real impressed with the Woodsman heads. Complete pass thru and great blood trails on the deer I have shot with them....

This is the Snuffer Blood Trail from the bull I shot two years ago (there were at least five puddles like this between where I shot the bull and where he hit the ground a few seconds later). He was a nice big 6x6. Tasty too!

snuffer,,, all day long but if your shooting light weight I'd do with the woodsmans as long as magnus is still making them.

I've used both but liked the woodsman better then i switched to the Muzzy phantom and liked them better. lol

I have only used the woodsman and now the woodsman elite heads. The woodsman and elite both penetrate like a long narrow 2 blade but leave a bloodtrail like the one pictured above from the snuffer

I shoot the 160 Snuffers on my 60# and up bows, on the lighter bows I use the WW or a wide two blade like a Magnus 160.
Lefties are the only ones who hold the bow in the right hand.

leatherneck

Never shot the WW. Probably cause they dont make one like the Snuffer 160. Makes one heck of a hole! Noise...I like the little whistle of death.

I use a lot of broadheads because it really matters where you hit them more than what with. I may have three different kinds in my quiver at once. Magnus I, Simmons ,Snuffer,Zwickey no-mercy or delta, phantom , Ace super express or woodsman. If I had to choose one for all the critters I hunt it would be a battle between the woodsman and Interceptor. The woodsman would win out because I can sharpen it so easy in the field.RC

Woodsman and Snuffer will put some blood on the dirt....

Woodsman..

and exit with 47 pound longbow..not bad..
