Finally got the finish on my bow  and pics taken of the last two bows we completed. My friend and I tried something different this time. We had been making 3 lam bows and decided to make some 5 lam bows after seeing some of the beautiful Myrtle veneers that IdahoCurt had for sale on here.
We usually make a few bows a year. We get together once a week after hunting season ends and work on them. We build a bow or 2 for ourselves and a couple for close friends or relatives. We build one piece R/D longbows although last year we did build four 3piece take downs. We maintained the same limb design as the one piece.
The bocote riser is the one my friend Lee build and the Olivewood riser is the one I built for myself.
Lee's bow is a Bocote riser with a red stripe and a Olivewood heel with IdahoCurts Myrtle veneers.
Mine is all Olivewood riser, heel, and overlays with osage stripe and IdahoCurts veeners with bamboo cores. Mine is 58" and 56@28  Lee's is 60" and I think 53@28

It's a stunner! Very nice. Looks like it'll really throw an arrow too. So you're the guy who got those veneers? haha

The veneers were all cut from the same piece of wood. They look different because i flip flopped my veneers from what Lee did. The tips of Lee's bow is actually the center of my bow in the riser section.
As far as going from 3 to 5 lams, we may have noticed a very slight increase in poundage but not much if any. Considering we kept the stack height the same. Steve

That looks awesome! I love the smell of olive wood when working with it.

super nice bows!!  can you post a pic of the veneers before glue up? I like how the veneers get prettier when the smooth on hits them during glue up..
