Traditional resources in/near NC
«

I'm in Raleigh North Carolina. So far I've feed my desire to shoot different traditional bows by purchasing a used Bob Lee and Chek Mate. I would really like to get to a shoot or a club where I could try several different brands of bows without having to purchase them. Is there a decent size shoot/gathering near Raleigh NC or a traditional club nearby with people who wouldn't mind me trying their bow for a couple of shots?
Thanks,
Doug

Carolina Traditional Archers is around the Hickory/ Lincolnton area. If you don't mind a little bit of a drive the SCBA is having a traditional shoot at the rocks pond camp ground in Santee, SC Feb. 16,17,18. Bring your tent and come on were going to have a big time...

Dixie Bowmen in Prince George, Va has monthly shoots through May, and then several in the fall. Trad only on Saturday, open shoot on Sunday. Straight up I95, probably about 1 1/2 hr from Raleigh.
www.dixiebowmen.org
is the web address, I think. First shoot this year is Jan 20th.

We will have our shoots starting in the spring. It will be a good place to shoot a lot of different bows.We have not set the shoots for this year yet but check back for when the site is updated to get the dates. Not a bad drive from Raleigh on the interstate.

Doug, As FlintHead said, Carolina Traditional Archers will hold the NC State Championships on Memorial Day weekend, as always. Also this weekend(and each month) they are holding their monthly shoot at the clubs new location. If you will contact Dennis Allman, he can give you any info you will need. Dennis' phone number is, 828-438-2890.
I've been a member for quite a few years now and they are a great bunch of folks and the State Shoot is always a good one. Hope to meet you there. Pat

Sissipahaw(not sure I spelled that right)Traditional Archers, near Burlington, has half a dozen or so trad-only shoots in the Apr-August timeframe. Maybe one of their members will chime in here. Kevin Lawler, where are you?

Thanks Folks,
Sorry it took so long to get back to this thread. I was trying to help my Dad get a winter turkey with his 12 gauge bow that goes boom.
I'll make some phone calls and keep an eye on the web sites for the upcoming shoots. I look forward to hopefully meeting some of you in the future at some shoots.
Thanks,
Doug
