string hand pain?

Anyone else gets this?
Have taken some time off from shooting and think I'm paying the price. Hopefully it's not arthritis!!! The pain is on the back of the hand and into the wrist.
Any idears to combat it?

Dan, without seeing you shoot, it's hard to say what is causing this. Are you using a deep hook and keeping the hand in line with your arm? I've had students complain of hand and wrist pain when they've used their fingertips to shoot, because it makes the hand bend back, causing tension through the wrist. If not, then I suggest you see your doctor to see if it is arthritis or some form of carpal tunnel syndrome.

I'm using the first groove in my fingers on the string. After that I really cannot say. MIght have to take some video of myself to see what it looks like.

AKDan, I just had carpal tunnel surgery. Got a lot of pain when shooting and when carrying buckets at work. My biggest syptom, however, was the inevitable fact that my hands were gonna go numb as I slept. Best I can tell you is see a doctor.

will do,
Funny thing is all the typing I do it doesnt hurt at all, or turning wrenches at work. My hand did go slightly numb from this summer as a charter captian, LOTS of reeling for clients to check bait. I think that came from my elbow though down to my hand as it hurt there and in the hand when I got feeling back. The hand thing has been pretty isolated to bow shooting.

I am a mailma'am, and my right hand is killing me!
I'm OK when I don't work for a while. I took three weeks off in November to camp and hunt, and after the first week it was fine. I suggest that maybe you should stop working and go hunt.
Go see a doctor you cheapskate! Our advice is worth twice what you paid for it.
Killdeer~ouch.

Just don't go to your ENT guy for your hand, and you'll be fine. I got jerked around one year, ENT guy said infection, then allergy, then infection, then allergy, all with corresponding medications..switched docs and found it was reflux starting it all. Zantac and good to go!
So I've been there on both counts. And my hand REALLY hurts! My condolences. But you are not me, and may or may not have carpal tunnel, or tendonitis, or reflux. I hope your doc(s) can get you well soon.
