Newbe to this site, but not to archery. I started in the early 60's with a solid glass long bow. Went thru a few recurves, then went to the dark side with a compound. I'v been thinking of going back to a long bow for a while now. I'm sooo happy I found this site! I want to make me a wood long bow. I'll be asking a bunch of questions about that project.   :bigsmyl:  Glad to be here!!!

Welcome!  Glad you found the site.  Good luck on the bow.  There are plenty of folks here that can help with questions on that and many other topics.

Be sure to check out the bowyers bench forum.

Welcome to the tradgang family Dennis!

You have most definitely come to the right place! There is a forum just for those who like making shavings, love the smell of glue or both.

I have seen and own one of the excellent bows made by someone who must have started out just like you in that he thought he wanted to build a bow.

Now I wonder how many bows that he has built since that 1st one.

I'd say jump in with both feet whether it's a self bow or a glass backed laminated glue up style you're wanting to make. There will be a bunch of folks that can and will be able to give all the guidance you could ever ask for.

Come enjoy the journey along with the rest of us.

God bless,Mudd

Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.
