If any of you have wanted to try making your own arrows, and thought it is just way to hard, look at the next couple pics and tell me it is too hard.  If your looking for a great passtime this winter, spend a couple bucks and have some fun.

I started a build along to show how easy it really is, and thought I would post these pics before I was all done.

Both boys did their own wide banded cresting I had to help the little one (5 yrs old) but the 6 year old did it all by himself.  He even did his own pinstripping.  It is hair thin, and looks as if a professional did it.  I take that back...A Professional did do it.

Me helping Lucas (5) on the SpinRite crester

Nicholas (6) cresting his own shafts

A close up of Nicholas at the helm of the SpinRite

Nicholas dipping his own shafts after the proper amount of dry time when he was done cresting.

2 very happy kids who are addicted to the right thing, and you can't see it, but one proud as heck Dad taking the picture.

Man Mike, the boys are getting BIG. Way to point them in the right direction. Then again, I bet they demanded you to teach them. I finally scraped up enough $ to get Jordan his first bow and I couldn't be prouder when we were side by side in the woods shortly there after chasing small game, or stumps, whatever was closer, and just having a ball together. Can't wait til I can teach him to make his own gear. Teach a man to fish type of stuff.

Way to go brother. And great work to Nicholas and Lucas!

They both got to make 6 of their own, and yes they are already wanting to wreak havoc on the local chipmunk population.

Mike, isn't it fun watching them make their own?  I helped my 3 1/2 year old grandson make his first arrow last year.  I crown dipped it and let him crest it.  If it started out white, it got painted.  He even tried to get paint up inside the holder on the crester.  This summer he made two more on the Spinrite.  Cresting was similar to last year, but fletching!  He wanted seven feathers on one arrow (because I had 7 different colors of barred feathers) and just two on the next one.  I just provide the materials and any help he needs but he provides all the creativity.    Just keep them making their own.  They'll be hooked forever and you'll have some great memories.
