Beautiful Night to Hunt

What a beautiful night to enjoy God's Creation with my favorite hunting buddy.  I am reflecting on a great hunt with my 7yr old son tonight.  He is proving to be quite the little trooper.  Tonight was the 8th time he has gone out with me over the last 2yrs and we finally saw our first deer together.  We hunted opening weekend but all we saw were trees and a few birds.  My deepest desire was that we would at least see a deer together and tonight it happened.  My son was so excited he could hardly contain himself. I was so awstruck by his reaction that I failed to grab my bow and try to get a shot off.  For a few minutes I turned into a spectator and forgot that I was hunting and not being a tour guide. My son finally snapped me back into reality and whispered, "Dad get your bow!"  But by this time she was out of range and moving on.  Oh well, maybe next time.  However, my son was not as understanding, " Dad why didn't you shoot?" UUUMMMMMM???? good question!   In my book we had a successful night none the less.
