Cane strip grip on recurve??

i have heard of people putting a strip (thin 6mm wide) of cane around their bow handle for increased handling , sweatproof, waterproof, etc. does anybody have this on their bow. does it work good? , easy installation?, any help would be great thanks in advance grayhunter
