Will be different this year not being able to harvest a doe early in the season. Will have to alter my hunting pattern to try to key in on bucks from the get go.

Bob B.

Well, getting close to bed time I guess.  I hope all hunters are safe this weekend.  Here is to sharp heads and short trails!!

Good luck fellas!!

I hope you guys are having a safe and fun morning. I wish I was back in my favorite spot on the family farm.  The sun will be getting to the top of the trees in a few minutes and cast my shadow on the field.  The deer will start to sneak out of the woods next to the corn and through a funnel and into their bedding.

My brother is out there this morning.  My dad s bringing his Bear home from the Ashland Area today.  He shot it Thursday.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

I don't think the weather could have been less conducive to bowhunting -- calm, swirling winds, and hungry mosquitos. My 13-year-old daughter sat with me (she's not hunting until next year), and we were rewarded when I filled a turkey tag with possibly the dumbest hen in Columbia County. A little bit of luck is nice every once in a while.

Bob B.

Well, I finally dried out and am ready to have another go!  tough day yesterday, only saw one at the very end of shooting light, to far away anyhow.  However, it is still and cool today.  I am about 30 minutes away from walking to my stand.  Good luck again to anyone venturing out today.  Stay safe and find the crease!!

( Nice job with the turkey Jason!!)

Good Hunting,

Bob.

Made it through a bear hunt up north without turning on my Thermacecll, but darned if I could make it through one evening hunt down home in the marsh without it.  Man they are like buzz saws.   There were many times more of them up north, but they were smaller by far and I seemed to handle them.  These down home were darn near trophy book sized.

Saw one forkie buck sneak thru at 4:45pm (EAB area) and heard somethng in the thick maybe 40 yards away. . never saw it.

My son, sitting about 400 yards to the east, saw a  doe that was almost close enough to be in deep trouble, and two turkeys.

A great start, seeing as how last year I sat 12 times before I even saw a deer on this property.  Note, in days gone by I used to see deer at least every other trip out there.

Good luck, pick a good shot and shoot straight.

Jason. .  you already got a turkey ?  I have a tag again this year.  I really need to concentrate on them one of these hunts.  As above, I tend to sit in the deep marsh and I have never seen one back there.  They are on the property, and my son had two sneak by him at about 30 yards last night.  He doesn't have a tag.
