I wanted to give the grizzly broadheads a try, I was told by one of the guys at 3Rivers the Aluminum screw in adapters would work best, my question is would these be tough enough for Elk or Moose? Would the steel adapters be better? Also, I am planning on trying the 160 Grain El Grande's, would these heads be tough enough for Elk or Moose? I've been hunting with 145 Bear razorheads for years, and they have taken about every big game animal in the world (Not by me!  :) ) the Grizzlys look tougher, so I imagine the 160's would do just fine. I'd like to give the single bevel heads a try, not for this hunting season, but I am going to start playing around with them to figure out what would fly the best for me. Thanks. DK.

You won't have any issues with the El Grandes being tough enough. I use 190gr single bevel and they are tough as hell. Takes a little practice to get them sharp if you are a bit challenged in that dept like I am. But once sharp they are very easy to keep that way.

I think any adapter would work. I prefer the premium carbon steel adapters as they are hardest (I don't recommend the stainless ones they are not as strong as the carbon steel - I have broken and bent ones to prove it). I think aluminum is too brittle for my liking. Stay away from the cheap steel inserts. If not properly heat treated they are too soft. No point in going cheap here. A few cents can make all the difference.

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow's effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

I don't recommend using aluminum BH adapters with the Grizzlies.  No point in mounting a tough BH on a cheap adapter, especially for elk.  I'd also recommend you go with the 190 or new 200 gr El Grandes.

Point weight and adapter weight will depend on what spine shaft you use.I like the steel adapters and they work very well with the grizzlies. The combination will be very tough.

I killed the elk in my user profile picture with a 160 grain Grizzly and a 100 grain steel adapter. They are strong heads.

Thanks much for the advice on the steel adapters, I'll definatly go with the steel along with whatever weight Grizzly works best with my set up. DK.
