I have a hard time spending $300 on a ground blind, it looks somewhat heavy, and not sure on the ethics of using it.

What do you all think?

They'd sell one more if it were half that price. I just don't see how it equates to $300.

I think you can get mirror-finished plastic at Taps plastics. I'm tempted to give it a whirl...

As far as ethics, not any different from camo or a myriad of other things we do to remain unseen. Go for it.

I bought one to use this year they weigh 15 lbs which is lighter than my pop up blind. Should not have to be brushed in. Deer pick out the pop up if not brushed in. I hunt alot on state land if you leave a blind out it will be gone when you go to get in it.

Does anyone know what it is made of to warrant that price tag ? It's nice and I usually try new things but that just seems a little steep, between the carry bag and the blind, that's more than my Equalizer tree stand climber cost me.

No savings if you count your work to put it together.  It looks like a neat product that could work great.  I see it as no more or less ethical than any other ground blind.  I suspect keeping the mirrored finish unscratched might be a bit tough.

I see your point, Mudd. Perhaps there's more than one way to skin a cat... How about mirror mylar adhered to the back of clear acrylic sheets which are cheaper? I just like to make my own stuff when I can.

I doubt a few scratches would be a problem.

Mirrored mylar? Why not stick to something cheap and thin ie, plexiglass or even waxed cardboard?

And....at that price....its not 360.....and if the animal comes in from above, there's no top cover.

Limited applications, but a great concept that would surely work under those limited applications.  Should work like a charm on relative flat ground and when you are definitely set up to have the game on one side of you.

Also wonder how it would do in the wind.  I saw one of those videos and the wind was blowing it and that panel really stood out as far as movement.

Looks like a good product, but does seem awfully $$$$. I think the wind could be an issue.

I bought one last fall and didn't have a chance to hunt deer with it but did hunt turkeys with it this spring.  Had several turkeys in front of the blind that had no clue I was there.  Had one hen that walked five yards in front of the blind and circled around.  Once she got behind me she started to alarm putt because she could see me in my chair at that point.  Missed a jake that was in front of the blind with several other birds.  Can't wait to try it this fall on deer.  I've never had much luck with pop ups as the deer or turkey can see them and avoid them.  As for the price it is high but it packs comfortably and is still less than a Double Bull.

I've used a mirror blind for years.  Heavy duty Tyvek material with a mirror finish.  Stalker shield is the brand.  It rolls up into a tube and is held onto a frame for easy manuverability.  You can actually stalk animals from behind the shield and as long as you keep the angle reflecting the ground in front of you they are very effective.  I use it on the haul road (Dalton highway).  In the right conditions I have stalked into range of caribou on flat tundra where there wasn't anything bigger than ankle high bumps within 200 yards.  Not perfect but just another tool in the arsenal.
