Who makes their own wood shafts?  What do you use to make them?  I'm wanting to get into making my own wood shafts.  I'm thinking about getting me a dowler sold by Lee Valley.  Has anybody used one of the dowlers from Lee Valley?

I buy my wood shafts, but I really enjoy doing it and you can do all right refletching other arrows for them sometimes. If you get a dowler let me know sounds I would like to see it work. Ty

I use the Lee Valley dowler, it work good after you get the hang of it.  It takes awhile of playing with it to get the shafts to come out good (at least it did for me but I'm not the brightest guy out there).  For me some woods work better than others, wood with a high pitch content tend to stick and break in the cutter, I have had good shafts made from white pine, mahogany, hickory, douglas fir.  Hope this helps.

before you buy anything take a look a the u tube video on making arrow shafts. I use a similar jig with my router works great...pay special attention on how the jig compressess the shafts and uniforms them
