I'm always more conservative when it comes to Dacron with bow weight and I'm always asked my opinion and I have a hard time telling people what they should get as the draw weight goes up.

Usually when people ask me with bows at or less than 55 lbs I suggest 14 strands but when they approach the top end of that, I lean towards 16 strands unless people request 14 strands.  With bows over 55 lbs I suggest 16 strands with a smaller serving to help with arrow nocks and with bows 60 lbs and over I try never to go under 16.

Where do people stand with bows around 57 or 58 pounds...it's a gray are that I just don't know what to suggest.  I can tell the new B-55 doesn't stretch as much and seems to shoot in quicker...this is from by observations while making them and from what I hear from the people that get them.

Thanks in advance!

I just twisted up a 14 strand for my 59# pathfinder.

I like 12 strands up to about 55#.  I can't draw anything that a 14 strand couldn't handle.

Not to jack this thread but wanted to tell you I received my 450+ strings for my Kanati today and they are great !!!!

RocketDog

I use 12 strand up to 59# and have never had a problem.

12 to 55# and 15 to 70# all 3 strand B-50 and never had a problem......but I only shoot them about a year or so then make a new string and the other becomes a shot in spare.
Bowhunting is "KILL and EAT" not "Catch and Release".....Semper Fi!

I shoot mostly about 57# and I make all my strings 14 strands. No problems.

I shot 14 strands of B50 on a 60# Hill I had without any problems.Over 60# I do go up to 16 strands and more strands for heavier bows. When I go with that many strands I like to do 3 bundles.

LostNation_Larry

I must be weird.  I like 15 strands as I usually make three bundles of 5.  I would have no problem with 15 at 65#.

Thanks all...I think the B-55 will help with this; granted I have limited experience with it but it is my go to Dacron right now!  I have made my fair share of Dacron lately.
