Yesterday we took a family day trip to Maine, mostly for outlet shopping. I was hoping to bump into a moose on the side of the highway or main road, but, alas, we found no moose... As the day rolled on, we made our way from Freeport to Kittery. After a full day of clothes shopping for next year's outfits for our now 1 year old son, we were a bit tired, but I was excited to go to the Trading Post... upon entering the driveway, we were met with a huge tent sale full of outdoor clothing and some camo. The prices were still a bit high for my taste, so we moved inside. Upon ascending to the second floor, I found myself in archery heaven! There were bows and huge 3D targets everywhere! They even had 3D dinosaurs! But hanging from the ceiling were longbows and recurves! It wasn't long before I spotted a used Black Widow LAG 66 AMO longbow... which I promptly requested to see... to my dismay it was left handed :( ... looking further I saw a nice Martin Hatfield takedown, one of the old green ones... pretty cool, but it was Savannah @ 55# that lured me straight to it! I have wanted one of those beautiful bows for quite sometime, but never found one in my price range. After taking it down and putting three arrows neatly next to each other in the indoor range, I was hooked... My wife and I then took a little walk and I asked the question: "Can I buy this bow?" To my absolute delight she said, "Go a head and get it"!!! But it gets better, she then said, "Isn't this the harness you have been wanting?" and handed me an on-clearance RealTree Tree Saddle! I had one last year but it was the wrong size... this one fit perfectly! She then said, "Is there anything else you need next season?" They didn't carry the broadheads I use (Phantom SS or Woodsmans) so that was it, I was set. So I walked out of the Trading Post with a gorgeous Savannah and a Tree Saddle for an early B-Day, late Father's Day, and VERY early Christmas... I cannot WAIT for September... but the best part was that I had my family with me bow shopping, helping me decide and actively participating in the adventure of finding a good bow! It was a great day!
