Yesterday we took a family day trip to Maine, mostly for outlet shopping.  I was hoping to bump into a moose on the side of the highway or main road, but, alas, we found no moose... As the day rolled on, we made our way from Freeport to Kittery.  After a full day of clothes shopping for next year's outfits for our now 1 year old son, we were a bit tired, but I was excited to go to the Trading Post... upon entering the driveway, we were met with a huge tent sale full of outdoor clothing and some camo.  The prices were still a bit high for my taste, so we moved inside.  Upon ascending to the second floor, I found myself in archery heaven!  There were bows and huge 3D targets everywhere!  They even had 3D dinosaurs!  But hanging from the ceiling were longbows and recurves!  It wasn't long before I spotted a used Black Widow LAG 66 AMO longbow... which I promptly requested to see... to my dismay it was left handed        :(       ... looking further I saw a nice Martin Hatfield takedown, one of the old green ones... pretty cool, but it was Savannah @ 55# that lured me straight to it! I have wanted one of those beautiful bows for quite sometime, but never found one in my price range.  After taking it down and putting three arrows neatly next to each other in the indoor range, I was hooked... My wife and I then took a little walk and I asked the question: "Can I buy this bow?"  To my absolute delight she said, "Go a head and get it"!!!  But it gets better, she then said, "Isn't this the harness you have been wanting?"  and handed me an on-clearance RealTree Tree Saddle!  I had one last year but it was the wrong size... this one fit perfectly!  She then said, "Is there anything else you need next season?"  They didn't carry the broadheads I use (Phantom SS or Woodsmans) so that was it, I was set.  So I walked out of the Trading Post with a gorgeous Savannah and a Tree Saddle for an early B-Day, late Father's Day, and VERY early Christmas... I cannot WAIT for September... but the best part was that I had my family with me bow shopping, helping me decide and actively participating in the adventure of finding a good bow!  It was a great day!        :goldtooth:

A nice looking bow! And a great choice in a wife too!

GraniteStater

Congratulations on a good wife!

And I did the same thing with the same bow.  I was up there a few weeks ago, saw the Widow for a solid price.  And like you I took it down and saw it was LH, they seemed to have a ton of LH bows in there.

WHat a woman!!!

Congrats on the bow and the good times that are ahead!!!! I suspect that she like my wife, she probably has high expectations for a full freezer of wild game!!!!

Now you must practice hard, scout well... and do lots of hunting!!! Oh the heavy burden she has put upon you!!!!

Heck, I don't want to see a picture of the bow, I want to see a picture of your wife. On second thought, you better keep her to yourself, and take darn good care of her. Congrats on a great find, and once again I'm not talking about your bow.

Congratulations on both.

That is one fine girl. Do think I could hire her to give lessons to my wife?  Congratulations, you are obviously a man of good taste, both in women and archery equipment.

Sounds like a good one you got hitched to, but just to make sure better administer the two bow test to see if she is the real deal.  Or is that the three bow test?

Keep that little lady happy! A fine marriage is one of the best things ever. My great wife of some 30 yrs has always understood my hunting passion, has passed the 3 bow test, has her own Harley and is my favorite riding partner.

So here's to all the great women in out lives!!!

me and my fiance are going to the old town archery shop but i dont think she will tell me to get a bow if i find one. She wants to go find one for herself instead.

You are lucky to have a wife that allows you to spend money on your passion, and to have found a beautiful bow at a good price.

my wife has more hunting equipment than Cabellas. but she needs a lot because she looses half of it in the woods every year. LOL ........James
