I field tested the new German Silver Flames broadheads being produced by Alaska Bowhunting Supply. This pic is of a 75# boar I shot with the ABS German Silver Flame XL (1 1/2" cut 180gr). Heads came razor sharp and ready to roll in a neat package that is very handy. The heads are Almost identical except ABS ferrule is a 1/32 shorter which i like and ABS logo.

Blade is of same 440 stainless and proved to hold that legendary edge. Note above entrance wound, i shaved the hair back on the boar hide ( between my Kanati Quiver and broadhead) after it went coast to coast broadside. Head
stayed razor sharp. It appears IMO, ABS has duplicated the quality German Kinectics was built upon. I would get my order in early      :)     .

ABS German Silver Flame XL is top and German Kinectic Silver Flame XL is bottom.

Hey- what are those arra's and why is another one broken in the quiver?????? Unless that's the one you used to shoot it?

Nice looking points.

The arrows look like FMJ from easton.

Arrows are  ABS Alaskan Griz Stics. Other arrow got broke on another hog I killed that evening.

I'm not sure. Jason but I was impressed with the tight tolerances between the heads I tested. I just resharpen 2 back to original razor sharp in less than 1 minute per head on the Griz wheel. I love working with 440 stainless. Not sure if anyone in states makes broad heads out of 440. Most use another grade of metal

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but until somebody can answer my question, I'll continue to ask it. Why  is this broadhead better than any other shaving sharp broadhead in some people's opinion? Maybe I just don't get it, but, if I shot a Silverflame through an animal, I would feel the need to re-sharpen it, just like any other head. There are plenty of other broadheads out there that have good blade thickness, can be re-sharpened easily, and are  half the cost for 6 broadheads than compared to 3 silverflames. I guess I haven't met the right salesman yet. Keep in mind that I'm not saying the silverflame is bad, I'm just saying that there is just as good out there for alot less money. The funny thing is, is that I'm not even a tightwad as far as hunting equipment goes, but this just hits me the wrong way.

two arrows, this thread was started to give German Silver Flames customers some feedback on the transition ABS has made taking over the production of these popular heads. I gave my hands on opinion on how the head preformed as compared to the original. No where in my thread have i claimed this head was the latest greatest. Your question about expensive heads I guess boils down to a personal choice. We all have our own opinions. But I can tell you this there is a difference in 440 stainless sharp and other metals. This head would cost a fraction of what it does if it was made from your normal broad head steel. I had a short career as a butcher but long enough to appreciate good steel. That's pretty much it, expensive metals drive up the cost of these and other similar BH.

I have noticed the price has gone up from Markus. They are now $90.00 and used to be $65.00. They also don't offer or don't list replacement blades.

I like the Silver Flames and I also admire Marcus's quality, good steel and good German engineering = worth paying price. What I don't get is how you can go from German Engineering to made in CHINA and the price goes up???? Something wrong with this one my friends. While the rest of the world gets China to make their stuff for 1/4 the price of made at home stuff. The Alaskan's figure they can do the same and put the price up???? Something smells here as far as I'm concerned.
