My Bama Royal just arrived from Nathanael today. This is the flagship of the Bama line and highest priced at $479.

I own two of the Hunter models and aside from cosmetics and two extra laminations, I honestly didn't think the Royal would be that much better. Boy was I wrong. While both are good, the Royal is in an entirely different class. An amazing bow through and through. I'll review it in Product Highlights when I get a minute. I want to get it to the range to weigh it out at my 30" draw first.

Specs: 47# at 28", 68" long
Core/Limbs: Red Elm with Bocote Veneers under clear glass (front and back)
Riser: Curly Maple with Cocobola Accent
Tips: Phenolic and Cocobola

The extra material makes the risers and limbs thicker but the bow is still light and incredibly smooth. I'm STOKED. I've never been happier!!!

That's Sweet!! I just got done sending my downpayment on a 2pc. Hunter Model. I also went for the Curly Maple with Bocote accent stripe. She'll be my first straight limbed, (real Longbow), 66" and around 52@26. Let us know how your Royal performs compared to the Hunter, as I'm already planning on my next one.

Nice !! Nathanael told me he was having trouble getting that Curly Maple, I love it, Sure looks like he cuts that shelf deep, keep us up dated & good luck ... Also, notice any difference in mass weight with the Maple as opposed to something heavier in the handle ...

Last but not least, got any pics of the tips ? Thanks Again ...

That's one pretty bow.  Sounds like you've got the one!  Looking forward to the review ...

Here is a few comparison pics between the Hunter and Royal.

Because of the veneers, there is added mass but it is distributed evenly throughout the entire bow. Even in the limb tips. The overlay is larger. Just a bit more girth everywhere but Nate's bows are some of the lightest on the market anyway. They are about as close to a stick as you can get - in a good way. This bow is still really light in the hand.

You guys that own Hunters would be amazed at the difference and I'm definitely not knocking the Hunter because I love mine.

The extra mass and lams really make this a smooth shooter at my 30" draw. And I would be willing to bet she is zinging a Heritage 250 and 350 as fast as my Hunter and its a 60# at my draw. This is probably pulling just over 50#.

Getting great penetration with a 31" 250 with 145g tip. Shoots a 350 with a 125g tip well too.

Limblover,

I have a hunter model and my grip looks more like your Royal grip. Your hunter appears to have a smaller riser and grip is that true? If so, which grip do you like better? Congrats on the new bow, Nice!

That is a really nice looking bow!

Thank You, Very Much !!!

I don't know. I've got really long fingers and the riser on my Bocote bow seems pretty standard to me. The riser on my first Bama was thinner. Although my Dad's curly maple hunter is a bit fatter in the riser.

I'm sure there are variations as everyone has a preferences but there is definitely more mass on the riser of this bow.
