Spent a good day in the Aussie bush recently chasing a few porkers and deer.  Stalked in close to some fallow bucks early in the day but some nasty wind changes blew my chances. Spent a good half hour on an old looking, curly lipped boar that I could not get a shot on due to thick foliage.  In the end he had me pegged and chomped his tusks at me several times before heading off into the scrub.  After several more hours of careful searching I found a mob of four pigs feeding on a flat in the last hour of daylight.  Spent fifteen minutes within shot range of the sows hoping a boar might materialise out of the adjacent scrub, but as it appeared that wasn't to be, I made the descision and heart shot this sow at seven or eight metres.

She made it thirty metres or so in a grunting rush that had her run past me close enough to touch with my bow.
61# PSA Widow with CX Heritage 350 shafts and an Aussie Black Stump broadhead did the job nicely.

Good shot placement and a nice pig.

For hunting to have a future, we must invest ourselves in future hunters.

When's the barbie? Congratulations!

That's the difference between sticking to a hunt versus calling it quits when there's any shooting time left.

Anything after the shot takes as long as it takes anyway...lol

Thanks for sharing!

WOW, that's a hog.  Congratulations.

Good shooting and perseverance.  Do you eat them or have to leave the meat lay?  I have heard some areas in Australia have to may parasites in the animals to be safe to eat.
