Yesterday at 6:30 pm, I harvested my first black bear. Broadside shot at approx 15 yards. Howard Hill Big 5 56#@26". Arrows easton Stepic 600's. Wensel woodsman broadheads. Bear made it 5 yards from the bait and it was a quick kill. I have to thank Ryan Derlago for all his advice on this one. Bear was also shot in Moose hills lake region in northern Alberta. Not a huge bear, but I am happy to get one under my belt. Again thanks Ry, and good luck on your hunt.

Congratulations--nothing quite like the rush of taking that first bear.  My first was a bit more exciting than that.  :scared:  Took my second one last year and am booked again this year with Eldon Jandreau of Hunters Point Guide Service in Portage Lake, Maine.  He called me day before yesterday  to let me know that my mount from last year's bear is on the way to me  :)  Eldon also runs a taxidermy business so that makes the taxidermy part easy.....Dave

I have no clue how to get these pics on. I will try this weekend. I recommend Ryan Derlago for bear hunts, he's a sposor on this site.

Congratulations! I can't wait to see the pictures. I know that most likely pictures of one is about as close as I'll get to hunting them again.

I did go down to Arkansas once on a Black Bear hunt but even it didn't amount to much because we were muzzle loading for them.

God bless,Mudd

Dave, I plan on going to Eldons next year, I have talked to him a couple times and I'm taking my daughter so she'll get fist chance at a bear before I do.

I'm mainly going for her anyway. She's wanted to bear hunt since she was 8 and she will be 15 this year so I better take her soon LOL
