I recently acquired my second 3 pc Schafer, [ a 3 pc 64" S-tip w/2 sets of limbs] and after getting Dave to check out a couple issues, with this second one,I plan on hunting with both it an my Silver Ghost on occasion.

Do others hunt with theirs also, or are they "regulated to the Bow Rack" as part of your "collection" ??

If I had one I'd hunt the crap out of it.That's too much mojo to let hang on the wall.

Bows are like guns they are meerly tools to be used . I won't own either one I won't hunt with .Some bows are works of art , but are made to hunt with and that is what I use them for, if they break then I will hang them on the rack for looking at.

If I had one I sure would, my bows have to qualify for disability before I retire them.

I did.  Then got DUMB and sold all of them I had.
Do yourself a favor.  Don't be dumb.  I'm a longbow guy now and specifically selfbows.  Like guns and 4 wheel drives.  If you sell them, you can never afford to replace them.  Lesson learned.

Likewise .... I had a couple of them 25 or more years back.. Hunted them hard then, really nice bows and really nice dealing with Paul. I sure wish I had them back..

Paul didn't make jewelry...he made those bows to HUNT.

Like everyone is saying.......use them for what they were made for!

I used to collect American classic shotguns and owned quite a few small gauge Parker doubles.....Yes...they got coddled and admired....but every one of them was used to make feather clouds!

The great thing about these hunting tools that we covet so much......collectible or not.....we can and should use them for what they were intended for!  And especially in this case.....Paul would have expected it!  Besides....think about all the mojo that must be in that bow!!!

The fulfillment of your hunt is determined by the amount of effort you put into it  >>>---->

my original is heading out this morning for a little turkey hunting. congrats on scoring froggy's schafer. i had my eye on that one, just had nothing to trade.if you ever sell, let me know.great bows.

I still hunt with mine, although I find myself constantly worrying about what could happen to it in a single careless moment. It is my prized possession and is priceless to me, but as was mentioned before, Paul built it to be used for hunting.
I know Dad lost several of his originals in a fire years ago and was crushed, but he did use one of Paul's personal bows to shoot a bear several years ago. Pretty cool. Correct me if I'm wrong Pops!!

Froggy

Jeanpaul3006,

Mine is still on the rack here at the house.... Gene done went and turned over a rock someplace else for that gem !

I wish I had one but to answer the question, YES I'd hunt with it.

When I got my Zona Custom T/D recurve w/ Purple Heart, Kingswood, & Bacote everyone that has seen it says that it is a beautiful bow but when I tell some that I hunt with it they think I'm NUTS.

I don't buy something I don't intend to use & nothing I have that shoots something isn't just for targets.

Way to go Sergio. For sure you made good use of your beauties.
