I'm leaving soon for an "Out Of State" hunt and will be traveling by commercial airlines. I plan on taking my broadheads [seperately] not attached to my arrows, in my luggage.  I'm using very nicely sharpened VPA screw-in 250's 1 1/4"].

Is there some type of foam bottomed "accessory box" available to secure them in and protect both their sharpness but also the other items in the bag from them?  Possibly a see thru plastic box that snaps shut and is big enough for these broadheads?    :help:

If not,  How do you guys accomplish what I'm trying to do?

Thanks for your help.

This may sound nuts,But my son has Teck Deck mini skateboards and they come with small hard plastic boxes that are 4"x 1 1/2x 1 1/2 and I keep my heads in them. They are at any Walmart or big K

I'd take a regular 5x8 notecard box (the type your wife keeps recipes in).

Buy some inserts
cut up an old aluminum arrow into 1" lengths
glue inserts into each 1" *arrow*
then glue the *arrows* into the base of the box

That way they're secured and touching NOTHING.

Anything that touches those blades will dull them, the question is "how much"

You can dip them in hot wax or do some tricky masking tape work to cover the edges if my idea is just way too much trouble (I understand if it is...but hey, you'll have a broadhead box for next time!)

Just get a small plastic box from Wal-Mart. Maybe a small tackle box. Get some bubble wrap with the small bubbles and wrap the heads in that. Tape closed, put em in your box and then the box in your checked luggage.

I use a arrow box with broadheads on my arrows.check in the arrow box and they travel like a firearm.when i get to my location i just pick it up in the securty clam.Never had a probem.

I have a broadhead box that I bought some years back.  Its exactly what you descibed, foam bottom holes for 8 heads, but it would hold more and has a small tray on top. 6 3/4 X 5 X 5. Its called the Archers Box and is made by Plano.  Archery World may have one?

Gene, There's a "tupperwear" type  container that you can get at any supermarket thst works great for bh's and is what I use.

It's heavy duty, and it's got snap down tabs that fold down off the top on all 4 sides.  Perfect size

Will a spinnerbait box work? Take the dividers out and repalce with some sort of foam .

I leave mine on the arrows when travel , in the arrow box , but airlines were not involved.

Apex Predator

Exactly what I use Jack!  A plastic spinner bait box from Walmart with foam inside.  I take a broadhead and push it in where I want my heads to be then draw over the cuts with a sharpie.  That way you won't dull them pushing them into new holes every time.

Depending on how big your broadhead is, you can take the 35MM film canister, put a small hole (I cut a small X) in the lid and pull the insert through it.  Then the blades of the broadhead fit in the canister and the lid holds it in place without the blades touching the sides.

i've flown a fair amount to out-of-state hunt venues and for screw-in broadheads (2 and 3 blade) i made leather bonnets for each head and then plastic baggie the lot.

i've also flown with woodies and the complete broadhead arrows go in a cardboard or light pvc tube with removable end caps.

on trip back from a wyoming hunt, they completely took apart my duffle bag and checked EVERYTHING - pays to make sure the gear is easy to take out and put back!

I use small box with foam and use Apex method. The Lid is clearly marked "Danger Razor Sharp Contents" for the TSA guys and gals.  I have taken to dipping my newly sharpened broadheads in melted paraffin. Provides a very thin protective coating.

I get clear plastic boxes from the Dollar Store. Course you have to cut foam to fit but can't beat the price.
