well my dad signed the papers this week to sell the land. unfortunately my brother and i aren't going to get anything out of it like my grandmother wished. going up in the morning to get all my stands, blind, and loads of other hunting crap and bring it home. i'll need to make a couple trips which sucks even more. really had hope some miracle would come and this wouldn't happen, but oh well nothing good lasts. time to figure out where i'm going to hunt come september ??? i'm so bummed  :(

Would the new owners be opposed to you hunting there? You could ask?

You and your brother might inquire about a hunting lease ?.....I know it sux to even consider it.  However, you do "know the property" and have a vested interest in it....

Can you say.... Thanks a lot DAD?

I can feel ya. We just put our place on the market, too. Tough times demand some less-than savory methods to keep food on the table.

I am so very sorry to hear this news. You get on this web site and talk about all the things you love, and you hear of shared experiences...Tradgang is a haven. News such as yours reminds us all that there is a world out there, and it is not always nice. My heart goes out to you and your brother.

God lasts forever....He's not good, He's the best.  The evil one has just screwed-up your life.  Just make sure you remember where the bad comes from and where the good comes from.

Sorry it didn't work out.
I suggest moving on and working toward your own piece of land.

The only thing you can do is do it yourself. And consider the weight selling the land will lift from your fathers shoulders.

It sounds like your dad needed to sell the land. Maybe because he was worried where he was going to "live" come september. You don't say in your post.

When my mom and dad decided to sell "their" 130 acres in PA years ago, I didn't expect anything from it. I lost some prime hunting land also. They worked it, they worked for it, they paid for it. It was theirs, not mine. I never got anything when mom and dad passed away either.....didn't expect it, they had given me enough.

I hope you find a new place to hunt and hope everything works out for your family

Sorry to hear that, I kinda know the feeling.

I hope you overcome this as soon as possible and realize "life is good!". Things may happen but as long as you're able to give praise for each day... do it!

I lived through the same thing when my Grandmother passed... Our "home place" was sold to strangers.  Sad but a fact of the world...

Get serious and work at finding another good place to bowhunt.  View this as motivation!  My situation worked out better than I could have hoped.  So will yours if you put in the effort and time.

I feel for you. I have lost two great places from outfitters dropping thousands of dollars for the ground.

My mother sold her parents farm when they passed. I had hunted that land for 40 years. Hunted it with my son since he was 4yrs old he is now 26.  I met with the new owner and spoke to him about what it meant to my son and I. He lets us hunt the first 3 days of deer season by ourselves. New owner is not an archer so we have that to ourselves also. We were very fortunate, it may work out for you, just talk to the new owners. I may be to you benefit.
