It was a great weekend here in Wyoming. I just returned from our Bowhunters of Wyoming banquet. A great time was had by all.

The best part was a very special arrow. Several years ago before passing away Jay Massey was our guest speaker. In an afternoon seminar he put on about primitive equiptment and how he built his items he made an arrow. That arrow was given to the auction we had that night. It was purchased by Vern Butler. Vern donated that arrow back to BOW this year.

IT will now hang on my wall     :bigsmyl:

Pictures to follow soon.

Very cool!!! Vern is an old friend of mine and I'd like to contact him. Do you think you could help in that department.

For hunting to have a future, we must invest ourselves in future hunters.

Randy, I think you have waay too many Pronghorns   :bigsmyl:   . Congrats, and maybe next year I can be there for the BOW convention.
We had Jay Massey at a BOW gig back in the 80s; he was a nice guy and one fine bowhunter. That arrow is a real piece of bowhunting history.

I just got off the phone with Vern Butler. He believed that that Jay came in 1993 or 1994. Vern told me stories of hunting with Jay Massey in Alaska.

Pat can you have to many?   :biglaugh:

Randy that arrow is SWEET. It would look really good hanging with the selfbow I have with Jay's name on it. I think I told you. I met Jay when I was stationed in AK. Shot with him. He was the reason I got into primitive archery. The bow I am talking about was the first osage I got to shoot that didnt break. When I finished that bow (within a day or two) I got my TB mag and in it was the announcement of Jay's passing. I immediatly new what the name of that osage bow was going to be. I also killed my first deer with primitive equipment with that bow. That is one great arrow you have there.

By the way 61lbs@27" would be about right.

I haven't heard from Vern for many years.  At least if it's the same Vern Butler of Butler's Traditional Archery.  If so, glad to hear he's still around and involved.
