cheap way to add weight to carbons

I was looking for way to add 100 grains to my bemen 500 size arrows.

I found that the .243 copper bullet head in 100 grain weight could be purchased for $22.00 for 100 qty at a local gun shop. I was able to buy 25 from him at $6.00.

I pulled the insert out of a doz arrows. I then put 24 hour epoxy on the .243 bullet head, inserted into the arrow, then did the same with the screw in point insert. I then put the arrow on the point to cure. So far my cheap way has performed very well,no movement at all of the copper bullet head in the arrow.

Cool, but you better be sure that's what you want when you start epoxying bullets & inserts down in your arrow shafts.

Me, I'll stick with brass inserts & hot melt...

BTW, if I were doing this I would weigh each bullet.  Reloading components can be off the target weight by a surprising amount, and that will affect spine, particularly in carbons...

You can also tap the back of the brass or aluminum insert and use 8/32 allthread locked with epoxy or super glue. I like this method because it does not reduce the length of the free shaft, the allthread is smaller than the inside of the arrow.
