I've been reading the new book from Barry Wensel and it got me thinking what happened to the other guys from Hunting October Whitetails? You know Rick Blase and Gene Bidlespacher. Does anyone know?

bentpole

Maybe the man himself will see this and chime in.

Possum2

I don't know but if someone has the video I would want to view it or even buy it. That was the first video I watched when I started bowhunting!!!

Possum,

I still have the same copy of the video that my brother bought back in the late 80'. In fact this past year I was afraid that it may not with stand too many more viewings so I went to Brothers of the Bow website and replaced it with the DVD.

Dirtybird

You can purchase the video off Gene and Barry website  WWW.Brothersofthebow.com.   Great video by the way.      :clapper:

I bought one (Oct. white tails) about a year ago, it's like a time machine, thats probably the first bow huntin movie I remember watchin, loved it.

I dont think it's hard to find, but the one I have, durring the scene wher ther explainin how to hunt the corn fields the sound go's out, I dont know if they all do it or I'm just lucky that way.

If any body else has this in dvd let me know if the sound go's out on it also.
It's a twang thang, some people git it, some people dont.

Gene Wensel

Gene Bidlespacher has been an independent cameraman for TV filming for twenty years now. Rick Blase went from deer hunting to bass fishing, then into salt water fishing, then got his pilots license and bought a plane. He is retired now and lives in South Carolina. Still hunts but not nearly as much.

I have that video, one of the first I bought and one of a very few I own.  I can watch that running heart shot over & over...

I have seen Rick's brother at some of the local shoots. He is a Chiropractor in the Asheboro, NC area.

I have the DVD Hunting october Whitetails I&II.  The sound is great, even on the corn field hunting scene.
My 5 year old's favorite part is where Mr Wensel is jokingly claiming a buck and said,"I know I shot it becuase that deer said, Oh that one hurt" Every time we watch it we rewind that part and watch it again about 10 times.  My youngest just likes the watermellon eatin'.
I like the whole thing...
Now I gotta get High Noon Bucks.

I really enjoy watchin it, maybe I need to try and get a different dvd and see if the sound work like it should, but even without some of the sound I still enjoy it.

Even with all the dvds on the market this one still stands out as being one of the most entertainin, a classic to keep.

I think that was the first hunting video I ever watched too.

Great video..  I watched it the first time in either 1987 or 1988.  No bowhunting collection is complete without Bowhunting October Whitetails I and II...

Old thread so just shoot me...but October Whitetails !&2 always brings me out of a funk, classic good times, a rich honesty that is lost in a lot of the commercialized hunting shows of today.

Rick Blase and Barry Wensel, man...
These guys just had a ball, so reminds me of the days of hunting with my family, as hunting for us was a family affair. Mom, Dad, my Brother, cousins, uncles whoever was around.

I still have the VHS copy. Great video for sure. Barry was ahead of his time in recurve shooting back then. He is a hunter.

Thank you all for the kind words on our old video footage. I have to admit that production was way ahead of its time. I'm thankful to have been a part of it all. I get thank you notes all the time from folks who say I lit the spark that lead them to a lifetime passion. I'm proud of that. Back then I never would have dreamed it would change so may people's lives. That in itself is very rewarding.
For those of you who enjoy the nostalgic footage I wanted to mention there's a whole chapter of vintage hunts/footage on my newest DVD that just came out a few weeks ago. All the info is on our Brothers of the Bow website if you're interested. Continue to follow your dreams. Thanks. BW

Thank you Barry and Gene
that video is truly the first of its kind.  You guys really pioneered hunting (especially bowhunting) videos

Cyclic-Rivers

I remember as a kid, my dad brought home the video. I must have watched it 100 times while he was at work. I should find the DVDs
Relax,
