Mudd

I had my 1st follow up appointment with my surgeon yesterday. I spent the majority of my time with the Doc's head nurse Jason.
Jason is very understanding and gave me a green light to pick and draw my bow. It was to be a trial and he said if I didn't have any apin while doing it. I could do back to hunting as long as I didn't climb any steep hill or climb any trees. One of the main reasons Jason understand so well is that He like me is a bow hunter. He told me he was back to bow hunting 3 days after hernia surgery with out any ill affects.

I ws instructed not to bother bringing up the topic with the Dr.  lol I got the meassge!!!
Fast forward... I couldn't wait to get home!

As soon as I could get it strung I was out the door looking as close to Robin Hood as any old fat man can..lol My HH Big5 and a back quiver. It didn't take long for me to figure out how to work the back quiver and even less time to fall head over heels for my Big 5.

I know it will be hard to believe but I found myself asking the question.. Which one will I be trying to add to the arsenal next. I think one could say I'm hooked. The whole hook, line, and sinker type of hooked.

There will be folks out there that nay not understand(I know I didn't until yesterday) the fanaticism with HH bows. But for those who do please let me know if it gets better or worse?

Thanks for readung!
God bless,Mudd

Thats great you finally got a chance to shoot it ! Just stay mindful of any pain. Might be easy to overlook when your having fun.

I'll have to let ya know on whether the fascination gets better or not, haven't had a chance to shoot mine yet myself !

Nice to hear you finally got to shootit.

For me, the hook goes in a little deeper every time I shoot a HH. Now I've started trying Hill-style bows from different bowyers, the lesser known the better. Love those D-shaped bows.

Mudd, congrats on surviving the torture treatment. I'm with ya, them Hill style bows are the most enjoyable bows to shoot, cant put'em down!

Report... I feel great!! No ill effects from my outing yesterday. Shot maybe 25 to 30 arrows before I had to quit. The dark took away my target,
Thanks for the concern and words of encouragement. I will proceed with caution and any error will be on the safe side of it.

I'm not at all disappointed to find out that this addiction doesn't get better but it does get to be more fun.
God bless,Mudd
PS Thanks again for the kind words.

Just take it easy for a while.....as for the other question...I'm not sure what I would call it ....once you find one that seems to suit you, any associated "obsesssion" would seem to be a "good" thing...regardless, just give in to it.

Like I said....take it easy and be sensible.  Easy to overdo things at first.

Hills are just like the venerable Lay's potato chip - you can never have just one, or two, or three, well you get the idea! Glad your enjoying the Big 5, just take it easy for a while.

Use your common sense Muddster. Shooting may actually help build your muscle group in that shoulder if you don't overdo it. Shoot some (< 50), rest.., shoot some, rest.

There's goad in them thar Hills. That 70"er has to be slick as duck butter. Good stuff Hillbro.

Great news Mudd,Did they recommend a brace for lifting for you to wear when you shoot it may help you from straining.Good luck.

Well glad to hear you're on the mend and back shooting.  But does this mean that I don't need to come out there and let you know how it shoots???
Dave

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

TommyBoy

Good deal, but continue your rehab! Good luck on the rest of your bowhunting season!
