Sheepeater & Badger Arrow Pictures

Hello all!

A couple months back I picked up my first trad bow (1st bow of any kind) - a very nice Black Mountain Sheepeater Spirit.

I slowly gathered up the necessary accessories and the past few nights I've been shooting it. I have nothing to compare it too but she shoots very smooth and quiet.

I'm still working on getting my form down and getting used to shooting a trad bow but I feel like I'm starting (key word is starting) to get the hang of it.

I set up a small "range" in my garage and I am able to shoot at 7 yards - not very far but plenty to get the form down. I can tell you right now after 3 nights of shooting I am hooked! It's all I think about at work and I can't wait to get home in the evenings to shoot.

Here's a couple pictures of the kind of groups I am shooting and of the arrows that Paul from Badger Arrow put together for me. I meant to get some pictures of these before use but that didn't happen!

Very nice shooting!     You are going to have to start just shooting one arrow per dot, or you'll need to do some expensive repairs to the hind ends of the ones you hit. Keep it up, I think you're on a roll!

I hear ya Killdeer! I have already torn up one of the cock feathers on one of my arrows. I started out by aiming towards the middle of the target to get used to the wholen trad archery thing, last night things started clicking and that's when I tore up the cock feather.

Most of tonight I shot one arrow per dot but had a hankering to shoot a group or two. I think that's my benchrest shooting coming through. I need to change my mindset when shooting my bow!

Yep, I've got my setup out in the heated garage. A couple nights ago it was down in the single digits but I had the garage 60 degrees! Just about perfect for shooting.

It'll be nice when spring rolls around so I can get outside and shoot but this will work for now!

Ah-ha!  It's the fun part that gets you every time....look at it this way....you won't find a better "addiction" to occupy your thought patterns while at work (sounds like you have self-identified this side affect).

BTW - very nice equipment (this also contributes to the fun factor)

Yep this whole archery thing is more fun and addicting that I thought it's be!

What makes it even more amazing for me is, 10 or so years ago, I shattered my left elbow in a soccer accident. I had several surgeries to try and put it back together which they did but it doesn't work as well as it used to. I thought archery was out of the question but finally worked up the courage to give it a try and I'm glad I did.

My form will never be perfect and I actually thought about shooting left handed but so far I think I've found something that is working for me. I've shot 4 nights in a row(going to make tonight 5) and I've had no pain which I thought I might have.

It's great that little bow is working out for you. With your challenge, looks like you are still getting things done. Perfect form........Perfect form.........I've heard of it.
