I got a button buck opening day and my younger brother got a large doe with a recurve as well. His first traditional deer. Friday evening this one came walking by at about 23 yards. He stopped and stood for a while before he finally move into a small hole. I drew and released and saw the arrow bury to the fletching. He whirled and bolted dissappearing quickly. I waited about 20 minutes and  before climbing down and looking for blood. I was a bit uneasy about the shot and decided to back out and look for him in the A.M. It ended up being a pretty good shot taking out both lungs and exiting about 3 inches behind the aft leg. He only went about 100 yards total. I was using a 51 lb Fox longbow, goldtips with 100 grain inserts and Muzzy 125 phantoms. Razor sharp via KME.

Arrows flying all over the country...filling freezers, and making memories!!!!

Congrats... and hats off to "backing out when in doubt". A decision often more difficult than we realize, until the time comes. A sign of a disciplined and skilled hunter.

Tell your brother congrats as well!

No doubt, hunting at it`s best.
