My best friend Luke drew a bison tag for here Wyoming this year. A few very special things about this tag are that it is ONCE IN A LIFETIME once you have had one you can never apply again. Another is that until this year you have not been able to pursue bison with a bow in wyoming. With a lot of work from the Bow Hunters of Wyoming the game and fish allowed the taking of bison with archery equiptment this year.

Luke kindly drug me along on this adventure. This was very special and I was very excited to share the experience with him. to start the adventure I met Luke and his dad in casper on the 30th to head for Jackson. We made a stop in lander to talk with his uncle who would be coming the next day to help out as well. Once there we found a place to camp just before dark. On Monday we got up with the chickens and set to scouting. finding nothing that morning we moved to another area that afternoon where we found a couple good bulls. Tomorrow was the first and that is were we would be at daylight.

we got up early made the long drive to the honey hole to find that there were a lot of other people with the same idea we had. I thought that all the trees had turned orange over night. Since there is no season for archery only it would be tough to compete for bison with those carrying rifles. However we in moved close when light was good enought to find a good bull Luke made a good stalk. He made two arrows count and took the First bison with archery equiptment in wyoming since the game and fish began allowing hunting of bison again.

It was not my kill but I got to share in the joy with a friend who is more so a brother on his hunt of a lifetime. To me that is just as good if not better than had it been my own hunt.

The back drop the good Lord gave us for the week.

A Skyler Wilson original at work. It was perfect for caping this beast.

Back at camp. Let me tell you getting a bison from the hills to the truck is no easy chore.

For hunting to have a future, we must invest ourselves in future hunters.

Thats the real deal there.
Randy I will be out your way day after tomorrow. Just got a report from my Jerry out there where we deer hunt and a lion has been in the area for a while and the deer are real wild, see ya from a mile and are running. The rancher has been hearing it at night from his house.

Commitment is like bacon & eggs; the chicken is involved, but the pig is committed....
