Living in Christian County it is a unwritten rule that when you buy a new recurve you buy a widow. It was all I had ever wanted until Brent Rudolph came out with this little bow. I coveted it for a couple of years before I ordered one. Got it last week and it is a shooter.
Not to worry though I have plans for a new PSR soon.  :)

Brent makes a fine bow. Very nice indeed.

Hey Doug, I was wondering where you had been. It is osage and bacote wood, 50" and 55.5#@28". I was able to use my 85-90# ramin woodies with 160 gr. tip up front.
I bet if I take donuts they will let me in!  :)

Nice little bow.
I always make it clear with my bowyers that I will indulge in other fine bows and I even discuss the virtues of other fine bows with them off the record.
I just picked up a 64" BW PL II and man is that a fine shooting bow.

Is that a double shelf bow?

How about a picture from the side too?  Looks real nice what I see so far.

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

Dave,

It is a lefty, Brent offered to put a shelf on the right but I figured if a righty wants to shoot it they will have to do it off of their hand.  :)  I will get you a side picture when I get home.

I cut the floppy rest off and shoot mine off my hand; actually think I get better flight.  A bud has shot mine left-handed with no problems....just add a strikeplate.

Sharp lookin' bow.

I've got one of Brent's Sheepeater static recurves for turkey (48" 52@28) and one of his Red Tail Hawk longbows (60" 60@28) for everything else.  Great bows, better bowyer- a genuine, all around, really nice guy.

Okay, I need to back up.  Based on some of the posts I'm reading, I'm now wondering if this is a glass lam bow or an all natural lam bow?  Looks like a normal recurve but the shelf looked kinda tiny so I thought maybe it was a double shelf bow.  Now guys are talking about floppy rests and I've only ever seen them on selfbows.  I've heard the name Sheepeater but have no actual knowledge of what or who was being talked about.

Maybe one of you could fill me in with some background on these bows and the bowyer?  Maybe some pictures from other guys as well?  Looks like an interesting bow

Shinken

It is glass laminated Dave.

Brent Rudolph is the bowyer at Black Mountain Bows now located in VA and previously located in Bozeman, MT.

Google his site - he's a sponsor.

I would like to get my hands on one - LH and light draw weight- anyone????

There was a 45# RH one up for sale on Trad Gang the other day and it was gone in a flash!

Shoot straight, Shinken

Dave,

This is one of the original sheepeaters, it is made with a leather shelf, Brent can cut you a shelf in this model or you can get a sheepeater with a pistol grip now (can't remember the name). Anyway I liked the looks of the original and thatis what I bought.
