I'm in the market for a new takedown recurve so I'm looking for some suggestions.

I like bows that brace over 8''.
I like a more full figured deflex riser, over 17''
I like longer sight windows like 5''.
I like a grip/shelf design that comes over the webbing of my thumb and index finger if that makes sense.

I recently test drove a Robertson and the bow was just about everything I wanted in design and especially the grip, but it just didn't feel right for me.

Any suggestions?

MikeM

take a look at Norm Johnson's Blacktail bows

Dale Dye makes a great recurve. His grips are terrific.

Dye and Blacktails interest me a lot....But the dilemme for me is the long wait and a lot of money for a bow I never had the opportunity to shoot before.

What is a Widder?  Never heard of them.

Sorry, slipped into a bit of coloquial there  :D

Black Widow. Long riser, big sight window, high brace height, fully deflexed riser, good shelf.

They're not too badly priced, wait times aren't bad & you can try afore ye buy.

I'm sorry....I feel stupid for not getting it.

Look at a Sarrels Bobcatt TD recurve. It has just about everything on your list. Here is the link:   http://www.sarrelsarchery.com/recurves.htm

Good luck with it.

Don't overlook Schafers. Finest bows around in my book.

Assenhiemer bows are very nice and priced right. The wait time is good as well.
Pick a spot and concentrate!

Also, don't overlook the Bob Lee bows with longer riser. You may even find a great deal on their website.

Steve O

PM TallTines here.  He is starting to sell his recurve and let me tell you, it is the best bow I have ever shot.  I tried everthing to find "my" recurve.  I thought I had it, but my new TallTines has changed all that.  People will want to get one of these before Brian realizes he can charge a TON more for them...

Another one worth looking at is the RER RX. It has a great grip! Rod Jenkins had some input in it's design. I shot it a few weeks again and it is definitely on my list of MUST have TDs.
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

Sounds like you're looking for a Bob Lee T/D recurve or the PMA Widow.

You just missed out on what I'd suggest....Denton hill and try them for yourself.

Perhaps there's another show coming you could go to and try bows for youself

besides that perhaps a metal riser like the DAS with your choice of gripsIf you don't like the grip you could just buy a differnt grip and install it.
3 rivers offes 3 grips I think for the Dalla(sp?)whic is the only DAS available at this time...again I think LOL there are others like Hoyt that make options along that route too

good luck
Shoot straight and have FUN!!

GMMAT

I've got a 19" riser on order with Dave and Beth at Schafer, right now.

Sounds like you are looking for the same things I was.

Good luck.

bigiron

sounds like a martin hatfield also.

Give Predator bows a call.... Reasonably priced, 500.00 for stock, or 725.00 for a custom. They have several risers and limbs in stock.. Very fast bow and quiet,no wait...  Mike or Ron will take very good care of you.

I agree with Rob - BW PMA is what you've described.

Also like the suggestions for Bob Lee and Predator.  Some of the other bows mentioned would fit your requirements but the wait would be lengthy and, although worth it, could be more pricey.
Do or do not ... there is no "try"
