I can't wait to see this good post batman.

I, too, would like some ideas on how to maybe modify my 16' LOWE aluminum boat to be more "bowfishing friendly" as well as be able to still use it as a fun/fishing boat for the wife and kids too.

This is my set up: 18' polar craft with 6 50 watt halogen tractor flood lights, 2 deep cycle marine batteries, I have enough light to shoot but nothing like the guys with the generators. I chose to give up some light to gain total quietness.

I added the 3 storage boxes at the back of the front deck, 2 of the boxes contain the batteries. I have enough battery power for about 5 or 6 hours of trolling and lights.

Nice boat Benjy...looking forward to September   :bigsmyl:

Do I search for some of Skyler and DW's posts on their bowfishing trips. One of their friends has a really nice setup.

Good post Batman!

Benjy nice job. I'll be moving to Georgia soon, and been contemplating the same thing. You gave me some great ideas.

thanks for the pictures benjy. I like the battery idea. 5 hrs is long enough to hunt at a time for me anymore. Where did you get the lights? Don

Benjy

The lights came from Auto Zone but I see them in most of the auto parts stores. The lights are available with different types of beam patterns. I use the "flood" light pattern. I also have the lights connected to 3 switches so I can turn them on and off as necessary to preserve battery power.

Don, I'm going to ATAR this weekend. I can try to find you if you want some more info.

That would be great. I'll most likely be around the kanati quiver tent if I'm not out shooting. look forward to meeting you. Don

No lights on my boat yet, we have a 14' Creastliner modified V jon boat. When the lights do go on they will be powered by a 1000 watt Honda generator, I will be using four 70 watt High pressure sodium lights all hooked to a ground fault to avoid any accidental electrocution   :scared:   I just feel over the long haul that a generator will become more cost effective than buying batteries.

Here's a few pis of my boat. It's a Crestliner 1860 with a 90 hp Merc and a 74# Minnkota troller. The deck comes off in a matter of a minute or 2 if you have someone to help lift it. All you do is pull 4 pins and lift it off. It can then be used for normal fishing or whatever else.

WOW, nice one. Benji, nice meeting you at ATAR, Sorry you had to shoot with such riff raff though. I can dress those guys up, but can't take them no where. Don

I wondered how long it would take the "big" boys to post. Awesome setup and a boat load of fish!

Don, I enjoyed shooting with ya'll. They are some very good shooters and made the ironman course look easy. Of course it didn't take me long to figure out to stay on the up wind side  :smileystooges:

Dang Benji, Now you got my juices flowing.  I was in Aiken last weekend getting all the finishing details done on the house & barn. Barn is done and looks like house will be all finished by Labor Day.  Then I can do some huntin'.  Looking forward to meetin' you...maybe even hitch a boat ride    Doc

That is one fine boat.  How high is the railing and does it interfere with your shooting?
