OK?

I'm getting ready to build my hutning arrows for this fall...and I SO like using the fletch tape.  I haven't tried it with a wrap (reflective) though.  Just wondered if it made any difference.

Thanks.

koger

I use it on my Flo. Green wraps, sticks great. Arrows I made last fall look great, even the ones that went through 3 deer and a turkey!

From my own experience, I have to say that it sticks like poo to a wool blanket!  :D  Far and away the most secure way to fletch I've found, especially if you put a dab of glue at each end of the feather, too.

Works fabulous on my wraps. They aren't reflective, though.

Never had a problem using tape and wraps.

Yellow Dog

Won a gift certificate from Onestringer at the Michigan Bunny Stomp in February. Just ordered some wraps from him and fletched up a bunch of Gold Tips I got from Big Jim just last week. Tipped them with Fletch Tite "Platinum" and I couldn't pull em off if I tried.

Always dipped before and the wraps are the greatest thing ever! The only problem I've ever had with tape was when I did a bunch of arrows when they first came out with the tape about a dozen years ago. Sprayed them with "Rain and Stain" that I picked up at Payless Shoes to waterproof them. The stuff worked great until the next season when I opened my arrow box with my hunting arrows in it and half the feathers were laying in the bottom of the box and the one's that were still on were hanging on for dear life! Don't use Rain and Stain for my arrows anymore.

Been using tape since they came out with it and other then that one incident it's worked great.

Well, guess I have to be the lone person to disagree. Got two doz arrows I have to refletch cause the tape is not working. Back to glue for me.

Jeff,
I was just getting ready to do the same thing.  I'm getting ready to build myself a set for hunting season and I was intending to use reflective tape and fletch tape.  The first time I ever used fletch tape was when LAEqualizer sent me a roll.  I can't see me ever going back to glue, except as stated a dab at each end of the feather.  I LOVE fletch tape.

At last!! I was scared, but now that Danny has "outed" himself, I will admit that I am in the same boat. My first set of carbons, wrapped and fletched with tape and spliced feathers, a dab of Fletch-Tite Platinum at both ends of the feather...now they are crawling and wriggling free of the shaft.

I just completed my "Iron Man" arrow for ATAR, and put about five coats of poly on over the spray painted crown. Fletched with Duco. Feels good!

Worked great for me. Wraps are from onestringer......stabow

TexasStick81

Just made these last week.  Wraps are from onestringer and are reflective, no problem at all with the tape.

I find an arrow or two out on my range that has sneaked under the grass the previous year- the fletching and wraps are still intact! I love tape and have never had a problem with adhesion.

Bahrzoo

Is there a certain kind of fletch tape that is better than another?

Tim Finley

Last year in the late season, when it was cold, if I shot an arrow it looked like someone kicked a turkey in the butt. Wont be using tape again, my friends have stopped fletching with it also.

Coop

I must have old tape because the ones I did with wraps and tape last fall, this spring I was able to just pull the feathers right off. And I had a dab of super glue at each end.

I don't understand why some are having trouble with tape and wraps. I use the Bohning tape with wraps and haven't had any problems. Maybe it's the stuff you're using to prep the shaft before using the tape. I use denatured alcohol exclusively. I'll bet those that are having trouble may be using rubbing alcohol instead. Don't use rubbing alcohol, as it has an oily residue it leaves behind as it dries. Use denatured alcohol ONLY!
