Need help choosing a backpack

Here are the items that will go in the pack.

1.   Heavy jacket plus bibs
2.   Heavy thermal shirt
3.   Heavy socks
4.   Light jacket
5.   Small range finder
6    Med. binoculars
7.   Scents, snacks, other small items

I will using on 1 day hunts out of a tree stand, i always pack all my clothes in because i get really hot walking. I want a pack that will hold all these items with no problem but i dont want it to be too BIG. Help me out guys.

I just bought a Eberlestock X2 for a daypack. It has the ability to pack out meat too with a nifty material shelf and cinch straps. It is 1800cu inch and will hold all on your list and then some. There is two long side pockets for water bladders too. It has a very low profile and gives you plenty of room for your arms. It is built tough. Just another option to check out.

I thought the Badlands 2800 would be a good choice, with the Eberlestock X1 or X2 next on my list.

Consider the Jim Horn Canadian.  Expands to over 3500ci with the use of a zipper for meat hauls.  Totes a lot of gear and I have used it for up to three days in the backcountry.  THe adjustability is pretty good too, as I have a very small torso, my Badlands 4500 had to basically be custom built to fit me, but the Canadian fits me well with their built-in adjustment.

I use it as my daypack when hunting hogs as well as hiking in for bear and deer on day hunts.

the 2200 is also a consideration as it is used by many as "the" daypack because it carries loads so easily and sits so slim on the back.

badlands 2800 gets my vote!  great pack that will last for years (but has a life time warranty anyway).  very well built pack.

I second the badlands 2200, this is the best dayback ive used and ive tried alot of them over 13 elk hunts and others. The quality is second to none and their warranty is as good as it gets.

This is one reason I went with this pack. I wanted a good light daypack that was built well with lots of features. It has 2 water bladder pockets. One on either side for a total of 4 liters. At 1800cu inches it can carry enough stuff for a 2-3 day bivy hunt. But when you get an animal down it will allow you to pack out with the first load of meat. No wasted trip out to get your packframe. Then with that first load out grab your packframe and go back for the rest.

Hey Joe...i use one of the older model Badlands Hypervent daypacks for exactly what you use it for.  i strap my heavier clothes (heavy jacket and bibs) on the outside and everything else fits in the pack.  It looks like the newer version is actually a little roomier than mine and would work fine.  i like the hypervent version for Georgia and Alabama where i hunt cause it does keep me a little cooler when the weather is hot. Don't think you could go wrong with the others and i think Whip is spot on!

I've gone through a lot of packs and my pack du jour this year is the X2 as well. I'm a sweat hog and this thing has a ventilated back, which is important to me. Pack elk quarters, ventilated back, hydration system, lifetime warranty. Check, check, check, and check.

I've had really good experiences with badlands packs as well, they just don't offer the combo that I'm looking for right now.

I love my Nimrod pack and use it for every hunt from day to multi-day.  There are a lot of options that you can switch around.  check out the website nimrodpacks.com  I like how you can attach and create different packs based on what you want.  Best of all lifetime warranty.  you break it they will fix it.  All of thier system goes on the same belt and shoulder strap system so any new designs that they came up with you can get for your system.  This is my go to pack over my "JustOne" from Erbelstock (also a great pack) but thats just me.

Badlands 2200 is what I use. I carry food and drink for the day. Bowhunting essentials. Extra clothes stuffed in there also. On the outside I strap my 4 lone wolf sticks, my outer jacket and pants.
