Anyone got any experience on these bows? I noticed that it doesn't say if it has a radiused shelf or not? I am used to shooting a Martin Dreamcatcher and woundered if anyone has any insight on how this bow compares. thanx anna

High Knob

I bought one back in 1995 (or so) and have been very satisfied with it. I only recently upgraded to a Patriot. The shelf is not radiused so I simply build up the rest with velcro. It will also not accept FF strings.

The Grizzly is extremely quiet and very reliable within normal hunting distances. I can't tell you how many times I have been shooting mine down at the range and had guys get very surprised that an entry-level production bow could perform so well.

I had a 2001 Grizzly and have shot a few of the newer ones too.  The shelf on all of them was ever-so-slightly radiused.  I shot mine for a few years with FF... the tip overlays are diamondwood and with just a few minutes with sandpaper are smoothed out well.

The newer ones are decent bows, but suffer from the same problem all the newer Bears do: overly large tips.  Narrow them down to reduce the tip mass w/o affecting tiller and a comparatively loud bow with moderate handshock becomes pleasant to shoot.  It's not a speed demon.

You can find them used for under $200.

There's not much of a comparison to a Dreamcatcher though IMO.  I've never owned one, but have had a few shooting sessions with one at the shop and range.  Smoother draw, less handshock, faster and quieter... and twice the price.

Probably a very serviceable bow, but if you want a really good Griz, find a 65-67 model.  GREAT bows.

The '62 Grizz is arguably the best shooter  :)   But there's just something about the '59 and '60  :D

There's a 48# 70's model Grizzly in the Classifieds right now for $115 +shipping.  That'll outshoot any of the new ones.
