Simply asking what the subject is... what is your opinion? Looking to buy a half dozen and want to know what's the best with out breaking the bank. If it matters what i'll be hunting it's deer and turkey. New to hunting with trad i've only done target shooting so i have no clue when it comes to the gear needed... knifes? So yeah what do i have to buy to be able to hunt? Thanks.

I have a 45# longbow of oak but i might be making a 60-70# instead to use, the arrows would change for the 65# but right now i'm using poplar arrows with screw in tips. That what you wanted to all know?

Any of our dealers can fix you up... see our sponsors list.

Magnus is a good brand, great quality at a reasonable price and many styles to choose from.

Ace standards or zwickey eskimos would be my choices.

Have you ever sharpened broadheads before? If no,look into Zepher heads and other presharpened heads.

Magnus Stingers is/are? a good choice for that set up.

Some of the best broadheads ever made are commonly available on the auction sights for $2.00 to 4.00 ea and many of them are still unshot after 40 years.. Green Bear razorheads for one, and there are others.
I've been a Snuffer guy for years but as of late have been shooitng the Stingers, just because I have gotten too lazy to spend the time to sharpen them.
Many have died for my freedom.
One has died for my soul.

Ok so that covers the broadheads but what else do you need to take with you while you are hunting?

You will need a way to carry your arrows safely, so some kind of quiver is necessary -- and all of the ones you can buy are pretty good. In case you are successful, you will need a good, sharp knife to field dress your animal. If you kill a deer, you will need a way to drag it out of the field, so a drag strap of some kind is handy. A compact flashlight is a good idea if you plan to hunt very early or very late in the day. A compass helps if you go very far from the road. Quiet clothing that doesn't make you too visible can be an advantage.

Good Luck.

Two of my favorites.

Learn to sharpen broadheads, it isn't that difficult and an integral part of the sport.  It will also save you money.

UnderControl16

I can learn to sharpen blades that won't be an issue.

It depends on the weather, hot or cold..raining or not...how far from your vehicle will be, the terrain and etc...just carry the basic survival stuff, knife, pocket knife, canteen, lighter, 20 ft of suspension cord, you can add to it as you wish...my list is pretty long but it packs small.

Buy carbons, weight tubes and 125 gr Thunderheads for 600 grains total weight or more. Sharpen the Thunderhead tip and you'll have your arrow/head combo that will never let you down.

Go to the local thrift stores and buy wool shirts and fleece for $3-6 each. Get a nice over jacket in camo, and good pants too. There's your hunting clothes for a budget.
