52#@28" Carbon arrow help!

I am building myself a new Kanati, 52# at my 28" draw, I like my arrows OAL to be 29.5 or 30" no longer. I was thinking the new 1535 goldtips but to get the weight I want (around 500gr) I think they will be to weak with the 100gr inserts and a 125 head. How about 3555's or CX90's?

Any input is appreciated!

Jason, this is my original msg and reply from Carbon Express.  I plan on using them for my 54 and 58 pount Harrison's I just received.  You can get both 50 and 100 grain inserts and the shafts are 11gpi.

The reason you are having a hard time finding the terminator hunter 4560's is because they have been discontinued for a couple years.  I would recommend using our Heritage 250 as that arrow is the same weight but a little bit stiffer spine.  The old terminator hunter 4560's where a .388 spine the Heritage 250 is a .373 spine.  Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions.

       I believe you are correct they would be to weak.
       I shoot approximately the same poundage with my arrows cut 29.5" and I use CE 45/60's with 50gr insert and 175 gr point but my total arrow weight is closer to 555/575gr.
     These are Terminator Hunter's or Blackhawk Whitetail Pro 3000 which is a 45/60.

I shoot the heritage 150, 30", 50g insert, 175g point. Out of a Super Shrew 53 @ 29.5". But like Tater I'm up around 570g total. Hope this helps

Jason, I'm shooting a 60" Widow PSAIII, 52# at 28". Now a widow is cut 3/16" past center and I know that makes it a little more tolerant of spine but I'm shooting the 250's cut to 29 1/4" with 100gr inserts and a 125gr tip. They bare shaft perfect.

Jason, I shoot GT3555's cut to 30" with a 125gr tip and a 50gr GT adder weight behind the insert from my Kanati (~47#), and they fly great!  The only fault I have is they're still a little lighter than I'd like sometimes.  

I'd stick with the .500spine arrows, I believe the CX Heritage 150's are heavier than the GTs, and still accept the weight adapters.

Chris, thats kind of why I was thinking of the 100 grain inserts for the extra weight. They should be right around 500 to 510grains with around 20% FOC. Even the camo ICS bemans would weigh in around 480 according to the bow jackson weight/foc charts. Plenty of weight for me and what I hunt!

I shoot CX 150s 291/2" with 250 up front out of a 50 lb. Liberty longbow weight of 530 grains.

Heritage 150's with 200 or a little more up front would probably be on the money.  Arrow weight would be less than 550.  We just set some up for a friend with 200 up front and the total weight was 520.

I am shooting 54@28 I am using CE Heritage 250's. The shaft is cut at 30" with 100g brass insert and 125 heads.  I just stepped out to 25 yards with bareshaft and fletched.  This is the type of grouping I am getting.

The three fletched together are cut at 30" the other 2 are 30 1/2. The bare shaft are 30".
I think I am almost there. Im hoping it is just a sting nock adjustment.

i shoot then out of longbows with 225 to 275 up front!

recurves 125 to 200 up front for 30" arrows and they are tough too!

iv'e been footing mine with 2216 shafts works great!

I am shooting GT 3555's cut to 29.5" with 100 grain inserts and 125 grains added in the shaft and a 145 grain field point (650 grains total). I know this is heavier than you want, but to 20 yards they fly like darts out of my 52# Kanati. The trajectory is almost the same as 1916's with 170 grains up front from my 46# Kanati, so I shoot them really well.

The 1916's with a 145 grain FP are 480 grains. They fly pretty well from the 52, but shoot higher. The big difference is when I miss the target (I still pluck the string once in a while     ), the 1916's penetrate my double layer of carpet and bang into the 1/2" Blandex backer. Some stick and once in a while the point will break through. The heavies stick though about 4". That's the kind of penetration I want to see. They shoot dead on to 20 yards and that's as far as I'll shoot at game anyway. I'll probably try to make up some heavy broadheads (steel inserts in WW) instead of the weight inside for hunting. I think I'll probably go with the GT 3555's.

I also have some Easton EpicST 400's full length with 125 grains internal that shoot really well with 125 grain heads, but they do stick out front a long ways. They are about 610 grains that way.

By the way, have I mentioned I love this bow!?! Thanks Jason for building one heck of a bow!

Wow Russ, thats a heavy arrow!

I wish we would have had more time and been more prepared when you picked your bow up, we could have tried a few different types to see what worked best! I know the 400's would be way to stiff, I ordered up some 100gr inserts so now I just need to get a few more shafts and get to testing!

Let me know when you want to shoot and I'll come over. I like the heavy arrows. Man do they penetrate! I haven't tried shooting over 25 yards yet with them. That's about the limit of my range/driveway. They start to drop a bit at 25, probably 4-5", but from 15-20 yards they shoot great if I do my part.

I guess they're kind of Ashby specials!

I just ordered 2 cx90's to try too. When I get myself a bow to shoot we should get together and try them out. I am really a 9gpp person but I can settle on 10 with the 3555 if they fly good!

I think I read the 90's spine like a 2016 and only come in around 430gr with a 125 tip. A little to light but I figured I would try them.

I am shooting CX Terminator Select 4560"s with a 100 grain brass insert and 125 grain tips. The length is 30", note that the brass adaptors add 1/4 inch, but the 30" has that figured in. These arrows seem to work well for me at my 28" draw using high performance bows that are 52 to 54 pounds. My total arrow weight is 527 grains. These flew well out of a Kabekona, Centaur, Morrison Dakota, Big East recurve, and a Bob Lee recurve, all in the 52 to 55 pound range. I have a Kanati coming to me that is 52 @ 28", I'll let you know how it goes when I get it.
