Finally broke in my new Sarrel recurve!

Well, I got a chance to go to the lease this weekend to do a little pig hunting. I got my new Sarrels Bobcatt takedown recurve and have been itching to get the job done with my new weapon. I got to the lease on Thursday afternoon and decided to hunt my pit blind. I had a couple of deer come in before the feeder went off and was having fun watching them. The feeder went off and spooked them off. A little while later they came back. I put my head down to stretch my neck and when I looked up again the deer were gone. The next thing I saw was little black legs moving towards me through the brush. Eight small pigs came in and began feeding. I picked out a sow and when she finally got right I drew back and let the arrow go. It was a 14 yd shot. I hit a little high and the arrow turned up inside her and hit her spine. Down she went (squealing loudly) and the others took off running. As I got another arrow out she expired an a second shot was not needed.

Here she is. An 80# BBQ pig:

Friday was slow and I saw no pigs.

Saturday morning I went back to my pit blind. I saw 6 deer but no pigs. Saturday afternoon I went back to the pit blind and was thinking I might have made a bad choice when at about 6:00 here came all the little black feet, and brown ones, and cream colored ones. About 10 pigs came in. There was a BIG cream colored with black spots sow that I wanted to shoot but she would not come in close. A nice brown BBQ size one came in to about 8-10 yds and I let her have it. I had to trail her for a good way but the blood trail was easy to follow and she was laying dead at the end of it.

Here's a pic of my 68# BBQ pig:

See y'all later,
