ok, first off let me say that my Whip is THE smoothest, quiet, best looking long bows I have ever shot.  With that said, I just cant shoot the dang thing!  I have tried everything and it just won't shoot for me.  I need more weight in the riser.

With that said, I am going to put it up on classifieds but I really have no idea how to ship a 64 inch piece of wood.  What is the best way to ship a bow such as the Whip without damage?

I use a 3" sewer pipe PVC tube, you can get a 10' at Home Depot or any other home store for usally less the $7-$10.It is a lighter weight PVC then like a schedule 40 pipe.I like to ship a longbow in that. And you cut it down to fit your bow on length. For longer bows a 3" pipe cut to 68"-70" will make it under the 84" rule at the post office, will not charge you for an oversize package.

Boy that was quick!  Thanks Vermonster.  Do you just tape scrap cardboard on the ends?
Also, where do you get the tubes?  Just go to a carpet store???

I cut it to shape and tape it on. I pack the ends pretty good so drops won't hurt the tips. I use the carpet tubes because I can get as many as I want for free and cut them to length right at the store.

One additional thing for ease and safe shipment. Instead of wrapping bow in bubble wrap or paper or cloth before you put in tube. Buy a piece of foam pipe wrap. By the bigger diameter stuff, it comes in 72" sticks, split and non-split. Tuck the bow into the slit, bend excess over limb tips, tape tight. At Lowes costs $1.98 a stick.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways-BOW in one hand-ARROWS in the other-Body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming-WOO HOO! WHAT A RIDE!

I've used Many a carpet tube & lots of bubble wrap,, never had a problem ...

Hey, can I jump in with "what's the best way to ship a 1 pc 62" recurve?"

Thanks

I use the carpet tube as well. I use the large size tuna cans for the end caps now. They fit really, really tight inside the tubes. You almost have to cut the tube apart on the ends to get them out. I dont have to worry about the bow breaking out the ends either...Roy

Insure it for $1,000.00 when your shipping it!!!!!

Just MAYBE it might make the Postal Workers be more careful, and if it does get destroyed, the reciever will be able to buy the bow of thier dreams.

I sent our (TradGang's) beloved Shell a '56 Bear Kodiak Special.....The U.S.Postal Service TRASHED IT!!!!! $1,000.00 worth of insurance would have paid for BowDoc to repair and refinish it.
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!
