Doc Ed Ashby had massive back surgery a few days ago and was just released from hospital ... 7.5 hours on the cutting table! According to Ed, it was an outstanding success and without drugs he has less pain already than he had for months before the surgery. Now all he has to worry about is several months of physical therapy and slow tedious recovery, before he's back down in OZ pin-cushioning the scapulas of water buffs for science and improved hunter success and ethics via maximized arrow lethality. Speaking of which, the new issue of TBM is out today on their expanded website,  www.tradbow.com  and includes another Ashby article, with good photos, explaining the Tanto tip advantage. Sort of cool to read the magazine online, once you get the hang of flipping and enlarging pages ... and no more long waits for the postman, though I want the print version as well as the electronic. Another cool thing about the new TBM website is that they explicitly are not trying to compete with TradGang, acknowledging that TG does it better than anyone else ever will. Rather, they're merely trying to provide better and broader service to readers and advertisers. But most importantly, Doc Ed is on the mend and WILL hunt again. That's a real Christmas present to us! Dave

For hunting to have a future, we must invest ourselves in future hunters.

He's doing great. I rigged him up a bungee to work out with, just got to keep the 75# Hill away from him for awhile!  :)  Meanwhile we're discussing high FOC bullets!  :) ....O.L.

Great news indeed! Having had two major back surgeies myself that both went bad, I've been very concerned for Ed these last few months.

Sooooo happy to hear that his surgery went so well.
