So I traded my treestand for a Martin Hunter that has a large throat on the grip and when I shoot it I hit my wrist. I think I can't get my fngers fully around the throat so I am gripping it per say at the shot. It shoots good but Ouch!!! Any Ideas what to do?

Is the brace height correct?  Only time I get hit on my arm/wrist is when the brace height gets too low...Mike

I never had a problem with my Martin Hunter, except that I was brand-new to traditional archery, and I had no-idea about brace height, nor had I any idea about string-stretch. My first traditional bowkill is in my avatar, a feral donkey taken with my Martin Hunter, and the brace height is about six inches, I'd say. There was a bit of pain before I realised I could change it!

But, that's probably not your problem, re-reading your post. If you can't hold onto it properly, you might be able to either get the grip modified or make yourself a leather bow sling, like what the Olympic archers use.

Good luck, as it is a good bow, the Martin Hunter.

Martin says 7-7 3/4" to deepest part of the grip.  I don't have my Hunter anymore, but think I was shooting in the 7 1/2" range.  Great bows...Mike

Both my Hunters do best at 8 to 8.25"

Hunters made from approximately 2000-2006 are recommended braced at 7.75-8.5".

Are you using an armguard?

Travisc406

no I am not, cause I never had this problem before. my serial is 0173 would you know by chance what years that may be, also Dick Palmers name is on the upper limb. thanx guys, Travis
