No but why limit the question to Iowa or northern deer?

Probably because it applies directly to Iowa as Iowa does not have a minimum bow weight or broadhead width to hunt deer, and Iowa does produce some hefty deer.

This is a good example of non-archers determining regulations for bowhunting.

No. I would not.
But I wonder if a clean kill could ever be possible on deer sized game with such a light bow. I wouldn't try it because I don't think it could work out well, but it makes me curious to know if it could be done -- and under what circumstances, velocity, etc.

It isn't legal in Arkansas, so no...  and our deer are maybe half as big as those in Iowa..

I don't think it is a legal set up anywhere. So NO
I have no problem with light draw weight bows and hunting but the state guideline minimums usually are 35# and THAT weight bow with a well tuned arrow and a sharp broadhead in the right spot will do the job better than most hunters would believe.
The shorter power stroke of the 22" draw on the bow will not be equal to a lighter weight bow at 28" of draw. If you look at the force curve of most bows their performance is not linear, so a shorter power stroke is more than just lower weight. It is less performance as well. I guess I can't make a short answer either.   :bigsmyl:
