Just wondering what people wingshoot or would like to wingshoot with their bows.

oxnam

For those shooting pheasants, have they been on hunting club properties?

Didn't mean to exclude those shooting at crows or grouse but was just curious about the most common targets.  I wouldn't have guessed that people were trying to take grouse out of the air.  Crows are fun, hard to hit, but a little too smart.  I need dumber birds.  ;)

Hunting for quail is a blast also.  They are small and so fast but I always get a lot more shooting when hunting them.

I have done chukars.  Most struggle with a shotgun let alone a bow.  The terrain is generally extremely steep and rugged.  Some places, shooting a flu flu would require going downhill 300 yards to pick up you arrow and then back up.  I love hunting them and they are a big enough challenge for me with a shotgun.  This year in idaho, bird counts are so low the after days and miles of hunting I got one shot with my bow.  When you have to work that hard to find them, I want a pattern with back up shots.

If they are available, definately give them a try.

I am surprised that more people don't go or wouldn't like to go for duck over pheasant.  Any reason why?

oxnam

Go waterfowl hunters!  Ok, maybe they don't taste as good as pheasants.

I have hunted geese in the past and I am preparing for some more action in the next few weeks. I have only taken a couple but I now have a disk thrower and I have been shooting regularly to get ready for the season and from last weeks scouting trip I am in for a lot of action.

Last season I hunted doves with a bow and discovered that hitting a 4 ounce target flying 40 mph is tough enough with a 12 ga.    :scared:

Success for me was just "getting close".   :D

Pheasants at a hunt club does sound like fun.

if your going to retrieve the ducks and geese yourself; by hand; well... that is doable.

But if your shooting broadheads at them;and using dogs-- you better have more dogs than arrows.

My Gold Tip traditionals 7595 with 125gr tips float well.  Now if they plunge into the water and stick into mud, that is a different story.
