I woke today and heard the wind a blowin.  I am not that big of a girl.  I tend to struggle to stay warm when the temp drops below 50.  So, I decided to stay in bed.  Later on I went out and collected the trail camera.  I had it just down the trail from the spot I planed to hunt this morning.  Oh man!  He may not be as big and nasty as the monster I missed earlier this season, but he is a shooter!  I guess the cold and lazy bird does not get the worm.  I could have been hunting with this guy in the area.  Man I love Iowa!

What do you think of the rack?  I thought it almost looked like some strange growth between the two major antlers.

I think he's almost big enough to ride!

Get yourself some good wool clothes and roll outta da rack a little earlier.  Compared to the blacktails here in the Pacific Northwest, he's a monster.

Good luck.    I'm praying for you.

I agree with you there is something different about the brow tine area on that buck but either way He is one " Beast" of a buck...Now I want to move to Iowa...Thanks for sharing that pic Katie and hope he finds your well placed arrow soon...Take plenty of pics for us if you are Blessed with the shot...God Bless , Keefers <")))><

katie

The monster was similar but had 2 or 3 drop tines comming down off the right side.  That is how I know this is a different deer.

What's the job market like in Iowa right now?    :saywhat:    :D

Wow!  What a beast!  That's certainly worth shivering over.  Heck, if I saw something like that I'd be shivering like crazy even if it was 80 degrees!
I'd love to see a different view of that rack.  Kind of looks like a third main beam or something?  Definately has something going on up there.
Go get him Katie, and then take pictures from all angles!

Definitely worth rolling out of bed early for. He's a stud! Go get him or his BIG brother.  :archer:

Great picture, Katie, and a real nice buck.  Good luck with him!

BTW, sure wish it would be 50 degrees here for the rest of deer season!  Sounds like a heat wave, lol.

Good luck with that one or his big brother.

Here's my take on the situation. I think you weren't meant to be out for this one, as magnificent as he is. He's just the "motivator" to get you out for that Monster that has YOUR NAME on him! Everything happens for a reason. However, I wouldn't pass on this Bruiser if he shows up begging for a place over the mantle. Lol! Good Luck to you Katie, can't wait to see how it works out for you this season. It's surely been an inspiration following your adventures so far.

He sure makes me want to practice, practice, practice.  How do you keep down "buck fever" with this guy in front of me?

Hey Court-you got any wool spun in my size?  I have looked around for some more wool.  Just hard to find it to me(5' & 100lbs).  I have been hunting in my grandpa's WWII wool.  Yeah, I got my size from him.
